Post  smallia on Sat Nov 20, 2010 5:37 pm

Hi guys. I started this thread so I'll keep you posted with progress on my new vignette. It's 2 continental marines on a fighting top in 54mm.A few pics to show you were I stand. What I did so far drove me nuts. I wonder where I'll be when done SmileSmileSmile

Very interesting Steve, and insperational ... by the way the ropes which look to be twisted copperwire have you added any glue to make them stand more solid and stronger?

Thanks guys. I will keep you posted with this.
Ivan, when you twist copper wire with the mini drill the end result is as straight as a ruler. No superglue needed

The wooden crows nest is really nice, the wood looks really great and those figures are awesome, i think this is really going to be one of your best, it is so unusual and original, well i think so and i love it!! Prosit again, hoping to see more update in the not so distant future.

Don't even know what to say except wow! That is looking so great and I will be watching this one. I love the technique you used for making the rope out of the copper wire, it looks so realistic and looks like it would be a good idea to use when I scratch build my USRC Bear. Do you have a link that shows how to do that technique, or do you have a picture or two of you doing it?

Thanks a lot. Actually what I do is take two pieces of the same length of copper wire and insert the ends in a mini drill. Then I hold the other ends with a plier and switch on. This way you can make them as loose or tight as you want. And they come out really straight.

Brilliant mate, love the triangular composition, and the idea of height and men beneath, though you do not see them, but narritevly one get easily the connection with body language ... I think this is one of your best vignettes IMHO!

    Love it!

    Prosit!

Never seen anything like this. The rigging is very well done and the scratch figures are fantastic!
I also like the wood effect.
