I think that this was a bit too much this time. 3 seafires on the line. All 1/48th.
    1. Special hobby Seafire mkIII
    2. Airfix Seafire mk XVI
    3. Airfix Seafire mk.46

The first 2 are ready from major paintwork, with the latter needed major cleanup of the joints and on to spraying.
p.s. - sea hurricane in progress as well using the MDC conversion. - I need a break from Fleet Air Arm after this, next US.Navy.

1st - very light sanding in between coats (not very advisable on natural metals) and build it up in layers, not in one go.
2nd - the mkIII is the usuall modelmaster laquers, which I found quite good but the drawback is that it yellows over time.
3rd - the mk XVI is the new alcad gloss cote which is solvent based not acrylic. it goes on ok and dries relatively quick but still have to get used to it, and most importantly it should not yellow over time.

Decals and wash of the airfix seafire mk XVI done. Used the kit's decal and I must say, they are a great improvement over previous airfix decals I used!! Still coming to grips with Alcad clear coats, as it is still a learning process, but mostly positive.

on a negative note, progress on the mk.46 is back to assembly. It was ready with camo scheme but the testor lacquer I used somehow reacted with the paint ending up with an orange peel gloss coat. Tried several time to rectify by sanding/reapply gloss coat to no effect. The final solution was to strip the paint down to plastic, which ended up in breaking the wings, so it is a restart! Thank you Proximo, but still a long way to go!!

Wayne, I did have much options left to do about it. I was left with only two options, strip it back to plastic or blow it to kingdom come, I went for the first one, although the second option comes into effect straight away if something else happens!! after nearly throwing it away, I managed to salvage it, repaint it and apply decals. Hopefully I will finish this soon and close the chapter on this one, that is only what matters at this point.
