Sorry Gordon to hijack your thread.... but I continued working on my Aermacchi MB339PAN Frecce and thought to post some pics here, instead of creating a new thread for it......

The blu is Humbrol 189 (Insigna Blu). It looks better live than in the photos

Joking apart, it is looking nice. It will need a good glossy base and it looks that it will be a bit gloss in the end. How is the kit, any problems?

Yes JF, the aircraft will be finished off in gloss, as is the real one. The kit in itself is very good, detail is ok as well... the only problem with it is the canopy.... I will need to leave it open

Duncan, being the IT Guru that you are I would have expected you to open a new thread re your Bird & asked the administrators to move them both in the Group Build section as well for EASE of REFERENCE from whoever Embarassed

Sorry it is just my 2c worth as always, but we must remember that you CANNOT TRUST MARCO where a BIRD (pls note it is not a Chick Laughing ) is concerned & they are SOOOOOOO IRRESISTIBLE to him pale & so he's EASILY FOLLOWED Evil or Very Mad

I'm sorry again but I find it UNETHICAL & DISRESPECTFUL to whoever STARTED HIS OWN THREAD & above all I find it also GIDRISTIC Sad to say the least & I DO QUALIFY IN ALL ADJECTIVES as I OFTEN FALL PREY to this WEAKNESS Sad (the most recent is/was Wayne's FW190/football colours debate, of which I was the ORIGINAL PERPETRATOR NoA1 Twisted Evil )

Duncan, I think that you should listen to the advice from the expert in hijacked threads!! king Twisted Evil lol! lol! lol!

Joking apart - I think that you shoul start your own thread and ask the administration to kindly move your post to your newly opened thread!!

p.s - you are using heavy english Shocked , do not know what 'GIDRISTIC' means, and could not find the meaning on the web neither Twisted Evil lol!

Duncan, open up a new thread no big deal! Twisted Evil

RAL 5013 is equivilant to revell lufthansa blue. quite an ugly colour if you ask me! too grayish/light for the teams blue. i think MM blue angel blue is closer!!

after some input from Antoine, I tried the Blue Angels Blue on a piece of sprue to see how it turns out. To me it looks too light

    Tell me what you think.

In the meantime, I have oversprayed the model with the Blue Angels Blue to give it a more bluish hue. This is how it turned out:

    Tell me what you think....

One more thing, the blue angels blue is gloss paint. I have slightly sanded it to give it a smooth finish. Do I need to apply gloss coats over it before decals, or it being already gloss (even though sanded) is enough?

So should I give it some gloss coats, despite it is finished in a gloss blue?

Any more comments on the plane?

    Thanks

i think you need to respray it blue! you can easily see white plastic showing through (wings, fuselage, under back wings, vortex generators) you didnt spray it equally?

I thought i saw the underside colour too so you might need another coat unless it is some light effect because of the shine and the lights.

Yes I think this blue is better or from the photos looks good , and yes before you apply the decals you have to spray gloss again, the decals will set better on gloss surface....
