Wow guys what a lovely figure, i would really go for it. Ivan what is wrong with it? You normally give us the heads up and a good critique of the good and bad points. In my humble opinion, it looks really nice.

Artistic, nothing more nothing less ... very atractive may I add but why is a GM dressed for battle then contemplating on a very rich fashionable chair, which is not the norm for Hospitallers? Putting aside these facts I would have rather seen a more 'civilian' attired GM then a battle dressed one apart there are the usual faults, no mail mittens, and if depicted leather gloves they were made of animal intestines not leather, would have prefered bare more or less, sword is early period [apart you will never sit down on a 'roman' chair with a hand and a half battle sword hanging]. Mail is horibbly depicted, and can't be sure if leg chausses are half or full, which at the period and style and period should be fool inc. the feet, yet again why wearing full battle attire when he is resting or contemplating in his office ... apart sculpting wise the right hand was like Luke Skywalkers made in metal or after a battle in plaster, no weight in it to stand resting so.

What I like is the face, very dramatic but then I do not like long hair [not the norm for Hospitallers as long hair was fashion]. Cape can't see if it has a hood or not. As for painting I like the light effect from the candle but I am still to be enlighten how can a candle lighten up with a strong yellow/reddish light a black cloak [probably it was an energy saver type from Lidl]... in the colour theory and nature black absorbs all colours and can't really be so strongly highlighted ... but let's give the merit to artistic licensce ...

Conclusion, sfrakasajtu ... a good figure in pose but needs an amount of work to get into my historical taste, but surely we shall be seeing some on showtables these coming years and will further conclude my assesments when I see one at first glanze or in hand!

Maybe a nit picker but then again this figure surely will be having a heavy price tag for the amount of metal and artistic flair! We are in crisis situation so my Euros are worth for the best offers ...

U le not to bits, as I told you if one wants to invest in it, he has to consider investing sometime bringing it up to scratch IMHO, something similar and we admire you for what you do to your fantastic models!

If I were the sculptor of this piece, I would have hanged myself (or at least took up knitting instead of sculpting) after reading Ivan's detailed (and very enlighting after all!!) review above. Shocked Laughing

Come on I do not wish any blood on my hands ... will do no more reviews anymore Twisted Evil

As I said above, it is an artistic sculpt, very good as pose apart from that hand which I do not like but then again it shows that though talented the artist can be he lacks knowledge of the subject ... this is not the first figure from that brand that fall in this category in my books, check their Attila! Pity as they have a very good sculptor but lacks historical knowledge! I am annoyed seeing so many crusaders fill just catalogues for the simple reason that they sell ... dare somebody do nonsense to a WW2 or Napoleonic subject and everyone will banish him! I think we are having enough of this artistic flair in many figures ... yet again I am no one to stop anyone buying it, if you like it and enjoy painting it feel free to do so ... i personallly if I had one in hand will detail it, but that is me!

    Go Ivan Go cheers

Joking apart, Ivan is right on all accounts as the market is EXHAUSTED with so many Holy Orders/Crusaders's kits as they SELL like HOT CAKES & the public just DROOLS over the able sculptors' work & their artistic prowess which I admire a lot mind you Twisted Evil

I admit that sometimes I do go for the "artistic bit" as I plan to do with my Hospitaller a la Jesus or St.John's hair style, but this example is a bit too much as Ivan pointed out all the wrong doings in the right places pale

It is a shame on HISTORICITY really, because in the FRANTIC race to SELL, it is thrown out of the window so MANY TIMES to the LOUD SOUND of so MANY APPLAUSES Sad

"Holl xaghrek u gib iz-zejt" like we say in Maltese, if a Nappy or a WWII subject is so mistreated by any sculptor Evil or Very Mad

But anyway let us agree to disagree Suspect

I agree 101% Ivan cheers I was just joking mate (hallik minn daqshekk reviews ta!Sad Ahna hekk irriduk I love you)... In fact when I saw it, the first thing that came into my mind wa a conversion to a king not a Hospitaller.

He says he is a templar from XII century, correct me if I am wrong, but did the 8 pointed Maltese cross (amalfi cross, it is also on it's coat of arms) appear later around the 15th century. Hospitalier cross at the time of the crusades was different style, white on black background. I stand to be corrected since my area of interest are IFOs. As for the figure as such, it is nicely sculpted and posed but if as you said not historically accurate, it is like having a 109 painted pink!
