1/48th Revell Eurofighter Typhoon Empty 1/48th Revell Eurofighter Typhoon

Post  Guest Thu Jan 06, 2011 1:15 pm

My next model is going to be a Eurofighter Typhoon in 1/48 scale by Revell with RAF markings. The Revell one is the best Typhoon on the market. It has very nice detail and scribed panel lines and is very accurate.

    1/48th Revell Eurofighter Typhoon Bomane10

For this model I'm going to make use of several after market products mainly:
a huge photo etch sheet from Eduard.

    1/48th Revell Eurofighter Typhoon Ed493611
    1/48th Revell Eurofighter Typhoon Ed493612

APU replacement from Two Mikes Resin
    1/48th Revell Eurofighter Typhoon Tmr48010

    Inner Pylons
    1/48th Revell Eurofighter Typhoon Tmr48011

    Intake covers

    Decal sheet from Model Alliance

Time for the first update !

The cockpit is fully painted and weathered. I used photo etch from eduard.[

The cockpit still needs a couple of Future coats on the screens to get the glassy look.

As I told you I will be using the APU resin replacement from Two Mikes Resin. Revell's Eurofighter APU exhaust is a simple indent on the kit part. Two Mikes Resin has released a deep, hollow exhaust to enhance this area. Some drilling and cleaning up of the kit part was required.

The APU attached from the inside. Once the hole is drilled accurately, The APU fits perfectly.

The tail has a strange truncated panel line. I searched into my references and saw that it is not accurate. So I marked the panel lines with a pencil. Now they only need to be scribed.

Thanks for watching guys!! I hope I'll post another update soon !!!

Adrian, the problems with the intakes is that they are not deep and actually are too shallow. There are two options, cover them or a lot of headache scatchbuilding the intakes to the proper lenght. I would stick to the former one.

nice work Antoine, though personally I hate these pre-painted etched stuff. Anyway good luck with this venture and will be watching closely, who knows maybe you will encourage me to start building the two seater!!

    @ Adrian

Thanks a lot for the links ! As I said earlier in the thread I'm going to use the resin intake covers from two mikes resins. These will solve the problem of the intakes and the model looks nicer with them.

    1/48th Revell Eurofighter Typhoon Tmr48010

Yes Adrian I bought aan aftermarket for a little toqba. Il-Malti jghid "Jew taghmel sewwa jew taghmel xejn". These things makes the difference between a great and an average model.

    @ Joseph

Come on Joseph !! They will look nice near each other during the next expo !
