Errant knight (?)- good painting exercise

Post  smallia on Tue Oct 25, 2011 8:18 pm

Here's a good painting exercise. It's the errant knight by Elgreco sculpted by Matt. It's half fantasy half historical. I tried to go for the latter as much as I could

Thanks guys. Not a problem. Here they are:

Red( faded ): Base: Andrea brownish red + 845
Highs: Keep adding 845 but wash heavily with base before adding lows
    Lows: Base + 859
    Lows 2: 859
    Lows 3: 859+ black

    Black: Black + 875
Highs: add 875 and wash with base
    Lows: black
    Simple really

    Thanks Steve,
Interesting shade you got with Brownish Red, will give it a try. I have been using Red Orange for some weathered red but was not quite happy as still the pigment gave a high contrast hue, the dull effect of weathered red could not be acheived, but here I see it ... so I guess that colour helps!

    Very Nice Steve....

It's good to see a different approach to this chap!

Is it me or doe he bear a slight resemblance to the painter? Razz

Rob, thanks. I don't know about the resemblance but it must be there cause you're not the first one to mention it SmileSmileSmile
