Waste- thinner

Guys, a lot of the products we use in modeling are pretty toxic. Especially used thinner! Also the glass jugs we kept it in.

I re-use my containers and when it comes to changing the thinner, it usually contains a lot of paint at the bottom . so i shake the thinner- to loosen the paint and pour it out on a tissue in the sink. so the tissue collects the paint & not let it all pour down the sink! but this technique is messy, smelly & i dont like the idea of puring thinner down the drain.

My question is what do you do (what is the safest) with this dirty thinner when its time to be changed? dump it down the drain? collect it and take it to a bring in site? throw it in the road? throw it in your mothers/wifes soil?

Adrian pour all your used thinner in a big open can and let it evaporate in an open area such ..in the roof etc....

I went the soil way LOL...plants have still grown....but I hope mum never finds out lol....

i use white spirit and according to wiki...

"although it is moderately toxic to aquatic organisms, is unlikely to present significant hazards to the environment. It should not however, be purposely poured down the sink or freshwater drain. It should be disposed of correctly wherever possible."

im suprised what an acute toxicity value it has

Whats worrying me is chronic central nervous system effects & the development of chronic toxic encephalopathy, over long periods

Most of you use harsher thinners like cellulose, and you dump them in the soil or on the roof
