Next project is the Brabham BMW BT50 from the 1982 F1 season. Driven by the Nelson Piquet (BRA) and Riccardo Patrese (ITA) its debut was during the 1982 Kyalami GP, South Africa. The car recorded a win at the Canadian GP.
Kit is from Tamiya, 1/20 scale, decals by Shunko Models, colors used Pure Brilliant White and Dark Blue by ZeroPaints, clear coat 2K by Zero as well. I opted to paint the blue with the excellent decals providing the pin stripes.
I am posting pics of work to date, my target being to have the completed model by end July - of this year I hope!

The upper monocoque chassis was in aluminum, riveted all round. Drilling and placing an innumerable amount of rivets was to be nerve wracking, next to impossible job which if undertook would have led me to quit the model. Here I used resin rivet head decal lines by Archer Transfers, again magnificent. I sprayed gloss black and Alclad polished aluminium over these.

Engine was also constructed, and it was fun to build. More additions are required, these to be mounted 'in situ' once the engine is mated with the chassis.

The tiny fuel injectors: 0.4mm steel wire and 0.5mm nuts:

Rear suspension also constructed, with steel tubes replacing the molded drive shafts, and the mandatory improvement to the coil overs.

Note the eyelets inserted in to pull rods, to be mated with the chassis via a nut and bolt.
