Lovely bird, what scheme are you planning this one?

Maybe a libyan version we have seen quite some of them recently ...

Ha ha Ihad the feeling that you had a lot of Mediterranean influence ... looking forward to see this one! Did you manage to find decals for it or you have to design your own?

I am currently working on something different from the same conflict, but not a bird ; )

Was it a MIG23 that was downed by mistake over Benghazi?

Decals - drawing up myself and printing on the ALPS printer (I'll post another current project were I've done my own decals shortly).

Hmmm - other civil war subjects? I was tempted to have a go at a pickup with rocket launcher on the back using the Meng kit. Maybe when I've plucked up courage!

Yes - it was that shootdown that grabbed my attention at the time - and led to building the model Smile

That's what I am doing Smile intact not one version have a good foot portfolios of various technicals ... the MENG model is a sound model, a fresh model with no problem of construction!

What printer are you using? I have always been tempted to do my own decals especially experimenting on rub on versions. The only issue is that there are no more commercial printers that have an extra white toner nowadays!

    Hi Ivan,

I have an ALPS thermal wax - so prints white, CMYK, silver and gold - so very useful. I use Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw to create the vector artwork.

Unfortunately the cartridges (especially white) are becoming very hard to source - am down to my last one and may need to order some more from New Zealand!

Unfortunetly ALPS are one of the few commercial dye sublimation printers which were available, hard to find nowadays it seems and managed to source some refurbished from USA but was wondering how they work with new systems as they seem to only take SCSI and work only on Windows, I personally prefer to work graphics with MAC ... which machine are you using 5000?

Pity this technology has been superseeded with the commercial ink jet paranoia!

Indeedy - the ALPS was the ideal modeller's printer!!

MD1000 here - and I can only run it from my wife's old laptop - but create files on my PC (for CorelDraw) and Mac (for Illustrator) and copy the files across to print. Bit belt and braces - but it works!

I was doing sheets for some of the resin manufactureres (Panther Models and Great North Roads here in UK) - but very slow/high failure rate for volume stuff - + the wax tape cartridges got harder to source - so just use for the odd one-off now.

    Great tool to have Smile

May do the decals at the weekend - will post pics if I do.

    Happy Easter everyone!

Looking really great, very realistic cockpit and you really pulled the detail out. The markings on that will look really cool, there once you don't see too often.

I know what you mean by one of many projects, my modeling room is like work in progress central, quite a few in various stages, at least I have two 109's in the painting stage. A friend in Connecticut (I live in Minnesota) surprised me by sending me an original Revell 1/8 Astronaut on the Moon that he picked up at a used model show, it's one of wanted for a long time to go with all my space models and he remembered me talking about it quite a while ago. Of course I couldn't resist digging in to it, another one in the work in progress pile.
