Re: TA-4J Skyhawk
Marco,
I had already seen these, and they do not show the markings on the upper and lower sides of the wings! The problem is if this decal sheet is correct or not:
While this one does not mention any markings on the wings:
More info:

Fujimi's instructions are according to the second one.

Re: TA-4J Skyhawk
OK Marco, I posted these so that other members would know what we are trying to figure out, maybe someone else can help!
On the second sheet above, there are large AD 500 markings, which I think are ment for wing markings, even though they are not on the plan view for the decal placement. Anybody has this sheet?

Re: TA-4J Skyhawk
The superscale sheet also has 500AD on the upper wing as this brightened scan shows:
But it's different than the Afterburner Sheet. So now there are 3 versions, as Fujimi shows nothing on the wings. Again, lost as to what is authentic, as always!

Re: TA-4J Skyhawk
Thank you Marco! That photo of the real plane shows that it did have the green panels on the undersides of the wings. I had already seen that hyperscale article, which is not the same aircraft, but still has the green panels on top and the 500AD squadron markings. I will therefore do it according to the Afterburner decal instructions, and put the marking on both sides of the main wings. Now I need a green paint to match the decals, or better still airbrush all the green and just cut off the black outlines from the decals.

About the green we will see, and yes I agree with you that the black lines , will do with decals later on....

Re: TA-4J Skyhawk
Marco,
The green is FS14090 according to Afterburner decals, but since I will be using the Fujimi decals I will try to match the colour with the green on the decal sheet. Humbrol 131 seems very close but I will try a test area first. Here it is up to today together with the new Airfix A-4B, which is quite close in details to the Fujimi A-4's at a much lower price.

I'd say, for the price it's 9/10! Let's hope that they make more variants, as it looks to be the case from the parts.

Re: TA-4J Skyhawk
Cool jet and one of my favorites. I remember watching the Blue Angels in 1976 (was going to see them in 1974 but it got rained out right before they flew) when they were flying these jets. Really beautiful and sleek little hot rods.

Those are two really nice skyhawks Gordon, saw then last Wed and really liked them. One of my favourite jets, love the way it sits high.

Re: TA-4J Skyhawk
Now the decals are finally fixed! It took a lot of cutting and fixing for the TA-4J black outlines of the green areas, and they came from all 3 decal sheets of the 3 kits I have of this trainer. The stars and bars are from a Superscale sheet as Fujimi's were not good. On the other hand, the Airfix decals are as good as it gets, with good printing, settling well over detail, and very good colours and excellent whites.
