Lippisch P.01-117 - A+V 1:72

This was a project based on the Messerschmitt Me163 rocket plane programme. The intention was the design of a fighter with a prone pilot intended to neutralise the high g forces.

The model was terrible as are all A+V resins and I think I lost patience somewhere along the way and decided there was so much time I could waste on this thing. It is an interesting addition to my 'Projects' collection nonetheless.

But still it was worth it Aldo..all the work ... another interesting project...

Looks a lot like a cockpitless 163 but interesting as are all your projects. Love the finish on such a small machine.

Brian, the pilot lay prone on his chest and if you look closely, the control column - if you can call it that - is visible in the nose plexiglass dome. Instead of a seat, there was a large cushion and the pilot lay prone with his feet pushing back the control pedals. This was the intended solution for the effects of the high g forces which knocked pilots out during high acceleration when the rocket motor was started.
