    Soldering Photo etch

Post  Dottore on Wed May 01, 2013 2:31 am

Dear fellow SSM brothers...in my quest to learn how to solder photo etch I have come across a product called "solder paint". I assure you it will make soldering a breeze, even for beginners like me. Basically it's a suspension of solder you just brush along the joint and then apply heat with the soldering iron. The joint is fused instantly and is extremely clean and hard wearing. I will be bringing some to the club on Thursday 2nd May, God willing for those interested in seeing how it works...

Cousin Alex BB was so impressed he ordered 3 jars ten minutes after he saw the method lol Twisted Evil

re solder paint i had my reservations but when i tried it out myself using a micro blow torch instead of soldering iron my reservations turned into positive surprise and my mind started to work on the endless possibilities now all i need is a decent sheet brass cutting machine. beleive me it takes hours off working time

    No...

Post  Dottore on Fri Nov 15, 2013 11:08 am

I just paint a line of solder paint on the joint...use a cotton bud to clean up the excess paint and make it neater as much as possible (personal preference) and apply soldering iron until it boils AND SILVERS. Than i blow on it for a second or two to make it set and clean up with a fibre glass pen...

    Hope this helps...
