Though photos are not very sharp, the details and finish look alreday going for the right track my friend from the looks, what did you use for the wheels Alclad metalics?

It is revell enemal paint. I bought a kit on ebay and it included paint. The result looks like very realistic to alloy wheels. The outer star was then painted by reventon grigio.

Prosit, very nice work. The only things i don;t really like, and we discussed this at the club already are the wheels. They look like toy wheels, especially the way they fit with the rest of the model, not real looking at all, they are ruining the general look of the car. Maybe it is not the wheels themselves but the tyres which really look like plastic.

the wheels where modified since last time and are not shown here. The tyres are after market tyres (hobby design) which are generally used by all model makers.

From this last photo i know what is wrong with your model and why there is something which does not look quite right. There is too much clearance between the wheels/tyres and the body.

Re: 1/24 458 Italia by Revell
i noticed it as well. However, i would like to note that the pic posted is a concept car. Concept cars are designed specifically to catch the eye. I compared the kit and it seems fine according to scale wrt to real cars. On the other hand, the size of the wheels are standard 20" rims and where used on other models with no problems. I am assuming that there is a mistake in plastic mould, is there a remedy for all this?

Can you build up the body so that it is closer to the wheel? Or else use different tyres, not so low profile to try to close that gap.

Re: 1/24 458 Italia by Revell
soon i will post a pic of my model in relation with the real one. In the case where you suggested to use tyres with different thread, i would say that then the height between the floor and the base would increase. I am aiming to keep this height as low as possible.

Re: 1/24 458 Italia by Revell
I don;t know if the pic of the finished model you posted is of the same car but the body contour really hugs the tyre and there is only small clearance and that is why it looks so good. I would try to build up the edge of the wheel arch to bring it closer to the tyre. The problem seems to be the area in front of and to the rear of the wheel, the top of the wheel arch seems to be ok.

Re: 1/24 458 Italia by Revell
When you compare the photos you will realise that the wheel arch on the real thing hugs the tyre closer. the rear part looks ok but can still be built a bit to come closer to the wheel. The front part of the wheel arch is not correct on the model both for the front and the rear wheels. On the model it falls down in a straight line, in the real thing, it curves lightly inwards, following the contour of the tyre. Those little things are making the difference. This is only my opinion, i would ask someone who builds cars for his opinion too, maybe try a car specialised forum. Or try to find a review of the kit you are building, maybe these tiny differences have already been noticed and there are already instructions on what to fix.

i carried out an exercise to check the wheel well if its approximately to the original. The result is quite accurate.
