Thanks Alex, very interesting to note that the standard has vastly improved. Our models don;t stick out any more.

Probably you might have been penalised a smost of the pilots are near the aircraft yours is on the wheel, obscuring teh aircraft and maybe someone brave enough will come with the idea they are hiding something hux ... you never now they have a way how they come up with ideas !

I feel sorry for Joeseph though I never expect any model in such a calibre not to take anything ... that is very unfair!

    Constructive critisism ...

Let's do a constructive critisism, I have noticed this foto of a winner, checking it out have to say that nothing those not benefit the claimed award. Notice the textile texture on the wings, the differenbt plywood texture and the balanced overall weathering stains and all ... BUT and a big but, saying again not to claim anything of the modellers merit as this overall presentation stands out from the fotos I have seen ... I need to add one thing the wings and plywood texture are all decals [Uschi], brilliant product, a nightmare to make especially the plywood as one has to trace each panel, paint seperate underlay and then fix piece by piece but again anyone with patience and a good eye can do it ... what has an edge IMPO is that he made an overall weathering effect so well balanced and no part is missed, oil stains, weathered textile colours, different wood etc etc... then again it is good paintwork and well planned and balanced, figure tan-nejk ... merit goes for the spoked wheel but is that scartch or PE? Then again no groundwork and for presentation sake an aircraft being serviced, open engine, open wheel etc etc to show detaiul and then put the pilot instead of mechanics ... ironic eh ... but common on aircraft displays!

So comparing betwen Joe's model where the panels have been all painted single and this I fee no award is nonsense ... again I am judging on fotos ... I might be totally wrong!

    Ray,

I was as confused as you are about the interpretation of the rules. In class 18 (the one I competed in) there were pieces which could be considered as dioramas.

Unfortunately it seemed that the rules could be bent, or there was inconsistency in how the rules were enforced in the different classes.

Apparently, even though the rules clearly state otherwise, a single figure is allowed in order to convey a sense of scale Suspect
