Brain,
I really can't imagine myself doing a fraction of all that scratch building! Just amazing, waiting to see these finished.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
It is a race against time. I have no time to waste posting pics. Still too much to do. One of the komets is done (the red one). I am trying hard to finish the other one this weekend. So every minute I have is spent working on them. Might bring them over next Wed.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Some pics i meant to post but never got down to posting because of time constraints. Now that i am more relaxed after having taken the painful decision not to participate in Euro since the project is far from finished, i can post some progress pics. More to follow.
I ran out of the usual grey primer and only found this reddish one. The red is only primer filler. The rest is rub n buff, ready for weathering and chipping.

I hope i did not bore you with the pics but i got carried away. Got them to the club but only few people were present.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
I understand your decision not to rush the end product to have it ready for this Euro Brian, but might I suggest an idea, you still can exhibit both aircraft seperate as a stand alone subject ... Personally I will have a go ... euro still allows that you can still use them in a dio and enter again the following years ... It has been done with AfV one year as a single tank then when the dio is ready they enter again ... Going empty handed in a show is not nice ... Like this it gives you an oportunity to see how things fare ... I like both subjects but obviously the one being retouched is so fresh and should go well with the audience ... Just place a paint bucket and spray gun near

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Never thought about that Ivan, i guess i should have phoned you. I would have managed to make two individual plain small bases and even might have had time for a couple of figures but now i am decided and even so, i cancelled the hotel booking. Maybe another time.

I've re checked at the hotel Brian.....no rooms available I'm afraid
Other hotels do have the odd triple or double room left but at a very DEAR PRICE right now since 60% of the rooms are all booked in according to Booking.com
I'm REALLY SORRY that as you said, you should have asked Ivan 1st & honestly, it never crossed my mind that you could do just that...split the Komets into 2 separate exhibits as I honestly thought they were "Inseparable"
FORGIVE ME PLEASE

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Ray, it is not your fault at all, i was too hasty to conclude but i did not know the situation with the hotel. I did not want you to make a payment for nothing on my behalf that i why i wanted to tell you early. No problem except that i was looking forward to being with you guys and with the models. I was panicking big time knowing that i would never finish what i had planned on time so now at least i am relaxed and can continue the diorama at my own leisure. Would have been nice though. Ivan thinks way beyond me in these things. My mistake so thanks for all your patience and time. I hope that at least you like the modles. I still think that they are not quite up to standard for that competition. I have some crooked panel lines and some other defects. Actually the photos do blow up everything and many of the defects i see in the pics are not visible in real life.

Re: Two Me 163 komets
oops my mistake ... Was thinking you were just going to the show empty handed not cancelled the whole trip ... But then again I agree with you slowing down and doing it at it's own pace and right, you still need a lot of attension on the ambience and figures to get the story right, rushing that would have ruined the whole thing ... On another mote not going this year was not a bad omen at all, will tell you why at the club ... And probably after the show you will undestand me especially if you had rushed the whole thing ... Keep it going target 2015 our expo then an international show ....

Re: Two Me 163 komets
Hi guys, still working on my diorama although i missed the bus for Euro. Well actually i missed the plane. Here is some more work i did on it. I will be posting pics of the subsassemblies as i work on them until it is all made up. First up are the pics of the first comet with two mechanics working on it. Well actually they should be working on it but their attention is drawn to the activity going on on the other comet, ie. the paiting or rather repainting of the red plane. That will be the centre of attention of the story. so you can say that these two guys are hiding under the comet looking at the spraying operation.
The last pics are of the work i am doing on the main wall of the hangar/workshop. I have already put in the electrical installation and i guess the contractor was pretty good because he did some neat work. There is the main electrical switchgear to the extreme left of the wall, metal trunking at high level. There are the switches for the hangar lighting, socket outlets over the work benches and siolator switches for the workshop machines or tools.
The last photo shows the water supply mains installation which will provide water for a sink for washing up and also wash up points for the general washing. I am making all the fittings just as if it were an actual installation, obviously in plastic not in galvanized steel. Hope you like it. It takes time!

Dawk il-pipijiet tal-acorn Brian?
By the way as you are taking this project at a slower pace and makes sense, why not invest a little bit more planning and make this a shadow box or a box diorama, this project cries out to ge one, and as it is an interior subject it is a perfect idea for a box dio, just adding a couple of leds to create those disired shadows and it would be a showstopper ... By the way box dios are something not yet handled by our club ...
