    Hi Ray
I tried spraying life color acrylics but no success. It's like spraying water. Will discuss at the club.

Use Tamiya 'acrylic' paint with alcahol [Iso Prop] very similar to what you are used to ... Lifecolour are good, but you need a good doubleaction, airbrush, good primer, better use their medium and above all use a low pressure [3 bar maximum]. The trick with acrylics is to make smooth passes one on top the other, do not pretend to cover all in one pass ... it is a pain in the arse but once you get hold of it and get the good things [dry fast for example] a good base for weathering, a good matt finish, etc etc ... you would not regret it ... I have been using them for almost a decade and have not touched enemels again in my airbrush! The bad side if you do not mix well and right proportion you can have a mess in your airbrush ...

Happy painting, practice makes you perfect Smile

UK stores will not ship enamels overseas because of postal regulations. I had emailed several with the same negative result.

Ray, enamels are still available and in production, the problem is shipping.

    p.s - I hate acrylics!!

Andrew, you should check E-Bay, contact sellers for info about shipping, the chance is that the shipping cost would be high. Misterkit in Italy stocks Modelmaster, but never used his services. Moduni in Germany used to ship model master via DHL, the problem is that it has not been restocking sold items for the last few months. Luckymodel has alcad and Tamiya but no model master. Other than that local supplies unfortunately are in a bad state, some paints being unavailable. The only enamels readily available are revel and humbrol, for the time being. Try to find its equivalent from humbrol.

As Ray said, with the supplies being what they are, maybe one should contemplate the use of acrylics, though even shipping on these is somewhat restricted.

Go for ACRYLICS, Tamiya but no authentics, Mr Hobby or Mister Kit all thinned with alcohol and sprayed like enamels. Forget enamels, you can spray acrylics without the need of air extraction.

It's just a matter of getting used to them..... and if you don't give them time you will not get used to them.

Years ago I had tried Vallejo Model Color..... DISASTER!!! TERRIBLE!! HOPELESS!!

I calmed down and weeks later gave another try..... spraying fine layers and MAGIC!! I understood how they worked.

Now I use only acrylics. I've used Vallejo Model Color, Vallejo Model air ... important with their appropriate thinner NOT water. I've used Life color which are the best. AK which are also good.

Locally you still find few jars from KHobbies and Model Shop [Khobbies even has a good stock of MrHobby mediums] but if you need specific colours I rather go the easy way ebay or any good asian supplier [like Luckymodels, HobbyLink japan etc]. Note that certain items [like lacquer thinners and certain paints] might not be shipped thanks to the glorious EU rules! Viva l-Ewropa!!!!!

Let say they are sold as acrylics, they are equivalent to Tamiya but their range is better and they have a selection of RAL and FS colours, yep their medium smell good and adictive, by the way if using lacquer thinners you need good ventilation as it is a bit toxic ...
