Thanks Ivan. What do you think of "to the Lake!" or "to Peipus!" ? BTW, I like the latin one.

no Ray they were not meant to do battle on the lake, Nevsky masterminded the place of attack and they took the bait.

Il-lallu Ray kif irnexxilek tkabbar il-50c? Shocked

Prosit mate, I love this mini dio, now start preparing for a multifigure one in a small scale ... well done!

Have to be a nitpicker on this mate, you know how I am on Miles Christi ... so that shield on the ground is for the man at arms or for the knight?
As it has a Tau cross [T] it was only meant for sargeants and man at arms. Tough their were hosed sargeants but probably their armour would be equivalent to lesser poor knights. Teuton Knights did not bear that cross as they were the proudest aristocrats of the period. So if it is for the knight update the cross to a normal Latin one.

For the battle of Lake Peipus many of the Knights most were brethren of the swords [emblem two crossed swords], some Teutons and many mercenaries. If not mistaken there were a couple of Templar adventurers but not sure if they fought under their banner or the Teutons ...ironically Teutons are memorised in history for their severe losses instead of victories, this battle and their doom Grunwald [Tannenberg] ...

Yes Ivan I'm aware of the shield's cross and infact I discussed this with Ray yesterday. I have one ready with the proper cross (took it with me to the club, in case you showed up!), it came as part of the set, but being a kite type, it looked a bit over-scaled when added to the dio. What do you think, shall I use the kite just the same? I don't have time to paint today, so either it goes or get replaced with the kite shield.

Told you yesterday when I saw these little gems "in the flesh" that you did an outstanding job in sucha SMALL SCALE Shocked

Re sheild, well historicity apart (a field in which I'm ignorant shame on me) I still would go for this "smaller sheild" as it is only "filling the space" while the other somewhat larger kite sheild would be only helping to distract the viewer's eyes from the main action, the focal point of the vignette, and in such a SMALL SCALE again IMHO it is more imperative not to distract the viewer's eyes Cool

    Just my 2c worth Sad

I agree with RayF, I would keep the shield, maybe just when you have time or after the show amend the Tau cross into a latin one ...

    Nice one Ivan cheers

Joking apart, the kite sheild in question, again IMHO and besides being somewhat big, has a metal rim which again IMHO is way too wide and thus overscaled and we all know how that metal rim per se was not there, and the sheild's face was covered in leather especially at and during this period.......mhux daqshekk gidra fl-Istorja hux Sad

I bought this Medieval fortress this morning(discontinued kit by Miniart), which I'm thinking of incorporating (in part)as backdrop to the Teutonics Diorama. I'm still waiting for the Soldiers on the march set as they are still out of stock.
