And here is a dry fit of the forward superstructure....very tedious paintjob to get the white and black markings into all the nooks and crannies and weather them. Loads of alterations Scratchbuilt sponsons on the funnel to accommodate searchlights instead of the Vierlings ...scratchbuilt tubs fashioned out of macdonald's drinking straws to accommodate the scratchbult range finders etc etc ...I am building this model from a 1945 to a 1941 fit . Operation Rhineubung.
Awesome work Lou, one hell of a difficult paint job, but well done, it looks great. Can't wait to see it all put together. this is your fastest build yet i think but not at the expense of quality.
This is the aft superstructure top deck minus the rear main mast which I'm working upon now...with some alterations for a 1941 fit and a scratcbuilt hangar
just a couple of inquisitive questions just to learn ...what do the yellow box signs on the main gun structure mean and was it the norm that anti aircraft guns will all look to the front?
Tanks Cocru....the yellow colouring on the turrets denote a colour code for an operation in this case Operation Rhinunbung....yes whilst sailing if not in action stations the forward supersturucture anti aircraft guns were stowed facing the front and the aft superstcure guns faced the back mind you have to change all the small ack ack guns as a friend of mine who is a Kriegsmarine Guru highlighted a mistake I did .I have to replace them with 20 mm single mounts and twin 3.7 cannons instead of the quadruple bofors...al the shields have to come off in this case for a 1941 fit as the Eugen didn't have them at that time:)...have to scrathbuild the 3.7 guns
