Isma guys do they display aircraft in this competition? I am tempted to try it out if they do since i have lost all faith in IPMS competitions.

Brian, it is a military show BUT lately they have a dedicated section that allows aircraft in, especially aircraft dioramas. Apart there is a dedicated trophy that is given to aviation related subjects [pilots, aircraft, etc etc]. Infact this year the bravo Spanish aircraft modeller [with a strange name] got this trophy with the Fokewulf dio and wolfs ...

As I told here is different no one will judge you for minor detail or colour chips, here judges consider the overall presentation and message if a diorama is executed, not the usual rivet counters ... I think you will enjoy attending this venture ... judging again is always subjective, and sour grapes and long faces is the norm at Euro but then again it is the only annual expo around the globe that gether together the best military modellers and painters around ... what you see here is a gallery of masterpieces ... and above all a place to meet these artsist and share and talk to them!

Regarding judging, yes you might be 'unlucky' that your section will be judged by few or no aviation enthusiast, but the overall trophy is judged by all the judges involved as the Best of Show, among teh judges you'll have grandmasters and master modellers, so I guess it is an honour having the model on that table at least to be looked upn by these guys!

Personally no show is like this ... and the more people like you get in the more it gets better, teh spanish guy is a solo wandere so he needs some challenge now ...

Mela go to AirMalta website, select airports (Malta Int Airport & London Gatwick) then select dates 19th Sep 2014 & 22nd Sep 2014, then hit "search flights"

Then on the next page you'll find KM116 outbound & KM117 inbound for 148.78

Then hit next & buy the bloody seat

Brian, having said all that, if I were you I would look up the World Expo in Stresa as well

IMHO, it might be a better option for you & aircraft per se because there you'll have a "fairer" chance of getting judged ON YOUR OWN MERIT, as it will be YOUR DISPLAY which will be judged vis a vis the "Standard of Gold, Silver, Bronze HC & C", that is the Open System & both Stephen & Ivan would attest to this

As you know, YOU ARE MORE THEN WELCOME TO JOIN US AT EURO, but again I would prefer the World Expo & we are still going to be more or less the same bunch, with Stephen, Oliver & Doc Roe bringing along their better halves as well

I posted there to sort of "NUDGE" you so do your homework well & decide wisely my dear SSM Bro

You forgot to mention Stresa you'll be judged by Italians MWAHHHHHH ... another option which is a good call for aircraft modelllers is Spain, AMT!

Hawwadtuni guys! When are all these going to take place. I was tempted by Euro because there are 10 months left and given my hectic life and the possibility of getting chickenpox again is totally remote, i need a long time to finish my project. It would also be nice to be one of a few to have aviation related subjects. When there are lots of aircraft, your effort is one of many. however, the time factor is decisive in my case.
