    Hi
can anyone tell me how the seat belts are fitted at the back of the seat on a Mk1? The kit did not come with the back plate and that little slot where the belt usually passes through.... so do they just hung at the bak seat?

Hi Noel, the headrest should be fitted on to a triangular plate with a horizontal slot in it to allow the seat belt through.
The photo below shows the ripcord attached to a pin, which when pulled releases the seat belt.
    Hope this helps.

Does it mean I have to scratch build a triangular plat with a slot? Why is the Tamiya kit without it? Maybe there were Spitfires without a plate and slot.

Noel the seat belts on the spitfire NEVER went through the hole in the seat. They go above the seat and through the slot in the armour plate behind the seat, or that triangle you are talking about. And why does Tamiya not have the armour plating, because it is a kit. And all kits have things you have to fix and add and modify. Why did you modify your tanks? Same applies to planes. No kit is perfect. They chose not to include the armour plating in the kit you bought. Some might have it and yours is missing it. Just a piece of thin plastic card with a slot in it.

I agree with what Brian is saying,
Here is an update photo showing all this. The said triangle is just behind the headrest.
