Have to report what a great show Scale Model Factory is apart congratulating the award winners, guys this is the place to be for Ipms malta as it gas everything from figures, to maasive tables with excellent tanks and dios, ships, cars and also aircraft, infact best of show went to a well executed wessex heli! There were more then 700 entries from a good number of european countries, the creme de la creme from the dutch, german, belgians, french, spain, hungarian among many ... The expo has massive halls also filled with trade stands and clubs but the climax was the unique ambience a reconverted monastery made into an NH contemporary hotel with WIFI everywhere, it is massive more then 500 rooms, the breakfast and restaurants are top notch and the socialising aspect is equivalent to USA shows as everyone meet there especially Saturday night at the bars. The downside is that everything happen on a Sunday which is filled up like a boiled egg ... Myself had tho present my tutorial and then judging closed my timing a bit but seems this is to be arranged as next year they are developing tutorials and workshops on a Saturday and Sunday the frenzy of comp and shopping. They really welcome our gesture of donating a trophy which went to a german painter, a nicer aspect these guys have great female painters and quite a good number. But what is great this show is the welcome our dutch friends gave everyone ... It is a show made by modellers for modellers, I highly recommend attending, I surely will! Very well being predicted this is going to be one of the major european show very soon ...

I Believe that the 219 diorama was commissioned by Zoukei Mura to promote their awesome kit. The kit used is in fact a pre-production test shot.

It also features on AK's new Aces High magazine and some hawk-eyed SSM bros noticed a fingerprint on the prop spinner Embarassed

As a club I think we should start considering this expo, apart not difficult to arrive and a very welcoming atmosphere it is one of those few expos that we can all go for it together aswell, they cather for all fields from military, figures, aircraft, marine, civilian vehicles and dios ... another benefit is all section are split into biggener, advanced and master. Another nice thing is the amount of workshops that cather for different aspects of modelling, from Alclad airbrushing workshops, weathering, sculpting and painting demos, most free and also a massive hall with trade stands and particularly 'saled' items which is not a feature everywhere lately. The figures section for the time being are not atracting the big names from Italy, France and Spain but then we have those coming from Northern Europe but I think in the near future this gonna change ... on the other hand they have a very strong fantasy section already with a good number of female painters ... The military section and dios is the strongest expo so far ever attended. Even advanced models would achieve good medals even in strong expos like Euro and WE. The aircraft section was well attended aswell [not like ipms] but the ones participating were very well executed especially the jets, biplanes and helis ... even these are split in designated areas. The marine and vehicles were maybe the lightest of all yet again the ones on show were very accurately finished ... insomma browse into the link Alex BB gave you and the fotos speak for itself ... follow up on FB aswell ...

No commision [but he might have contacts], that model was done by my Spanish friend Aitur, the famous guy for those huge dios lately, the downed Heinkel and FW on the ice which was there. By the way he went down with loads of special awards apart the golds, he was the most highly decorated modeller of the event Smile

This guy manages to make huge dios with taste, he used the have the issue of not having much of a story but unlike someone commented his latest ones are better and with a message, not strong stories but yet good, not an easy task on such huge dios. This particular one featured a destroyed hanger with only the last survival as behind it featured just chaos and destruction, yet this one also a broken eagle as cannot fly awaiting to be mended BUT the pilots being arrogant and feeling defiant, still awaiting their proud moment to surrender in honour or being saved to fight again another day. Sometimes certain stories, one has to read between the lines not always so direct Smile
