Bit of a place holder at the moment whilst I get another project finished - but hopefully able to crack on in next month, or so, and build in parallel to the Macchi...

Bit of an AFV virgin - not built a tank since I was a kid - apart from a First World War Mk IV Male I built a couple of years back.

I'm looking at one of two possible vehicles depending on what info I can find (this being one possibility):

Here are the elements for this project so far - mindful I need to convert back to a Mk II - and 'GALLANT' probably the easiest to model.

Oh - and it may be my first time doing figures - which is a little nerve-wracking given the standard set by the members of SSM!

If any of the Malta brethren have any pointers re references/paint details it would be much appreciated Smile

    Grazzi!

    My brother

Not much is known about the mythical Malta Matildas, what I recommend choose the version you would like and stick to the foto ... if going for Griffon, dark brown lines not green for the wall effect. Though this foto show the tank during training most tanks had mg removed when used for airfield duties.

by the way Tamiya has a /48 Matilda upcoming, finally we can start seeing it doing the right job, pulling aircraft!

After a long, long break whilst I researched what I could - I've made a start on my Maltese Matilda "GRIFFIN".

Some of this will be guesswork as I can only find one image of the tank - and nothing showing the other side!

It has some earlier features than those on the Tamiya kit - so I'm making a start on the changes this weekend.

Unlike other AFVs where it's fairly clear that the lines were painted over the basic colour (Portland Stone?) - I think that this one had the stone blocks (Portland Stone) painted over the base colour - probably Green G3 - as the blocks look brush painted over a darker colour and the edges look they were applied after.

Have fun and hope all's well with my Maltese brothers! Smile
