BETTER PHOTOGRAPHY is for next Wednesday 7th October

Noel is to conduct a sort of lecture where he'll be bringing his own lighting rig and anyone who thinks that he's good enough to give him a helping hand please do so with whatever you think might help mere mortals like me (I'm bringing my digicam so he'll see and check the settings, if that might hint anyone else to do likewise) to try and IMPROVE our pics Evil or Very Mad

    Great idea guys ...

I recommend one thing as though there is a system of how to photograph things, it is also ideal to familiarise with the machine you are handling, so who is into photography would be better if you bring the camera with him, we can all play around with the setups and basics and understand the language of each camera as all digitals have a mind of their own ... I can provide a good tripod!

    Prosit!

For the souls I thought that you were refering for a next time pale and that I was wide awake Twisted Evil

As in everything, not much is enough so whenever you feel like it just advice us and we'll be as attentive as we were yesterday Sad

Joking apart, Noel and Tiny were REALLY PATIENT with me and my BATTERY SIZE CAMERA Sad (STHAJT x'HIN HRIGTHA QUDDIEM IN-NIES with ALL those MONSTER BLACK CAMS around Sad ) and after shooting with Noels's lighting setup, tripod and all, he and Tiny discovered that I had been shooting on a pre set mode by the camera, so any adjustments that I made she ignored them Sad so now the NEWFOUND settings are SUPERGLUED so I won't change again Shocked

Will try them out asa I can and if again still LOUSY and CRAPPY pics I'll just throw it out of the window and start thinking to buy another one to which I'll speak and she shoots lol!

No Ray I am not advicing I need to try out with the setups you made guys! I normally work with the professional setups at my brother but man those are damn too philosophical to comprehend so I am in serach of something more basic and easy to handle to simple minds that does not need to get the books to understands the F and apretures ... Better Photograohy Wed 7th October Empty How does he look guys?

Post  Ray Wed Oct 28, 2009 5:12 pm

Before I open an appropriate thread on the Figures section, I thought about posting here and see what the "experts" have to say about the new settings (which Noel & Tiny SUPERGLUED on my digicam) and how the pics turned out Twisted Evil

As far as my meagre mortal PHOTOGRAPHING abilities can tell me, I see a SLIGHT improvement Sad

It looks very good Ray! Slightly on the blue tint but it could be because of the strong blue background.

    I made a small adjustment

I am no photographic expert but those pics look good. I agree that they are a bit on the blue. Whatever, the figure looks great. I also detect a slight resemblance to Kugin Giljan, does anybody agree?

Much better Ray but do not know why though the background is still strong, can you try a different darker colour or else distance the background a little bit more ... detail and focusing os figure is top notch ... just the depth of field is still strong.

    Ivan

Ivan would you believe that the background colour is BLACK Sad

Here are the same pics without AutoBalance re PhotoEditor Sad

I thought they would look better with AutoBalance Sad

I also think that focusing still needs adjustment as I do agree with you re distance of background Sad am a bit tight in space but still it is the same space of when I shot a bit more decent pics, so some more tuning is needed for future shots Twisted Evil

Better Photograohy Wed 7th October Empty Ernesto Reyes' Photo Jig

Post  Ray Thu Oct 29, 2009 1:44 pm

Maybe I should have posted these before but was afraid really I would be violating his copyright or whatever as I'm not sure about the internet's copyrights.

Maybe I should have asked his permission before What a Face ? Anyway I'll ask it later just the same to be on the safe and ethical side of things, but do feel that since I'm not ABUSING of the pics and I'm posting them for a GOOD CAUSE, Ernesto won't be angry with me Sad

This is his photo jig that is SIMILAR to mine and even the digicam he uses is similar to mine and Harold's (all those of you who mocked the BATTERY size of my digicam Boooooooooooooooooooo Twisted Evil )

You can find all the info on this link here, and while you're there it won't harm anyone to browse and see what a GREAT painter he is.....truely "Born to Paint"

    http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29761&page=6

Here's his Photo Jig, and I can see that the distance between subject and background is longer then mine so anyone who has a solution vis a vis this (as the distance MUST stay as it is) would be greatly appreciated Evil or Very Mad

Why do you use such a dark background? It is bound to effect the overall colour and give the photo an overall hint of its colour, especially since your figure is metal and it will reflect the blue colour of the background. Can't you use a more subdued colour?
