Since my Panther is nearly done Twisted Evil , i decided to go a step further in model presentation and make my first base for a model!
Especially since i am planning to take part in the exhibition and i know the high standards of SSM Wink and i wudnt want to put the club down with bad presentation Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I found the textures and just added the badge and details.
ONE PROBLEM: i do not know the scale of the tarmac for a 1:48. Can someone tell me the block sizes in cm's?? Very Happy

Adrian there is no such scale in tarmac ,every constructer or nation do as they please or as is nessecry....
When I use to build models I always find good look the size of 100 x100mm or 80x80 for 1/48My very first Base!! Scan0010

Ok its re-arranged to 80 by 80 mm
Can you give me some constructive critisizm? Badge? text? to big? too small? middle?

I was thinking of painting it BUT i dunno where to start from, cant find any tutorials, so better try something authentic and easy to do for now and i think the results are just as good :p

I thing it's better on a black outline in gold placard , instead direct on base..and it will be better if you short write the name plate ,..exmp..U.S.M etc Sep...ect

The base is great and will really complement the model. As for the badge, i would leave it out and just put in the name on a neat plate.

It depends what you are after. You can have sprayed plastic with rub on transfers, you can have wood with engraved lettering and you can have a brass engraved plate. it depends how much you want to spend and how yu want it to look. Decide on the look first. I normally make my brass plates at the Artesans' center in Valletta They do great engraving on self adhesive brass sheet. it looks very neat. a bit expensive, depending on how much you write.
