Liquid latex film

Ive often come across this liquid latex on builds and thought its a very promising and usefull tool to use and its far cheaper and easier to use than masking tape (not in all cases) & can be used for masking parts of canopies, camouflages, weathering and pieces here and there (along side aid from masking tape of course). So i decided to add it to my tool set...

Now im aware of latex masks specially for modelling, like Maskol, but there are also types made for art purposes. So i came across this liquid masking film made by Talens and bought it. Its pretty much the same thing, only its gray.

Who here uses liquid latex, what advice can u give or what do u think of it?

adrian i use copydex its a liquid latex glue which i find exteremly useful it is cream in colour and translucent brown when dry it is also very easy to peel off in fact it is used by some people to produce "skin moulds" for religous statues, pasturi etc

liquid latex GLUE? i was referring to a masking film, not a glue
ive experimented with mine, it dries brown only on acrylic glossy surfaces for some reason. VERY easy to remove. It seems that this tool is going be very handy

i know exactly what you are refering to. if you read further down you will see that i said some people use it for mold making. it is a type of non permanent glue used by artists and craftmen to stick items for a temporary period of time without damaging the surface on which it is applied.. rest assured i know what im talking about you can buy this product from vee gee bee art shop in valletta

I got mine (Talens) from Galea's..
I will post test results tomorrow

Series of tests done on an old model:

1) I put the liquid latex over a glossy (Klear) surface. For some reason as it began to dry (seconds later) it turned brown. When i removed it, it left a bit of a mark and a slight brown stain Probably because their both acrylic or this liquid could have ammonia in the solution. So latex on Klear is out of the question

2) Next test was done on matt paint. It dried gray and left no stains or marks

3) Last step was on gloss laquer, dried gray and left no stains or marks

Ooh and btw... it stinks of piss!

Have you ever tried Winsor & Newton Colorless Art Masking Fluid??

It seems that copydex doesnt contain ammonia in it. Mine does...which is why it reacts with Klear..

I THINK IT DOES. NO IM SURE IT DOES CONTAIN AMMONIA THE THING IS I DO NOT USE CLEAR I USE TAMIYA CLEAR COTE ACRYLLIC
