Our friend Dave Maddox has posted this shot of the new Pegaso Crusader 75mm, launched at Kulembacht.

Though another caped crusader finally we are seeing an accurate version with a cappae, minjaw gewx ispirati mil-pirjol ta' Ray!

So it's in my wish list as a Euro purchase, obviously to be painted as a Hospitaller ... who else to join ?!

    God wills it!

Ivan would you care to post an image as I can't see it on that Basement thing unless I become a member and I'm not in that sort of mood right now affraid What a Face

I'm 50% with you for that Euro purchase.........the other 50% when I see it Very Happy but I'm sure that if you've given it the thumbs up, then its an accurate rendition and perfect for a Hospitaller!!!! Without having seen the kit in question (its not even on the Pegaso site) and from what you've described it and my Sacred Pirjol (if only he can talk how much swearing he heard in Girona re that dreaded CONAN pirat ), is it based on Warrior's Knight Hospitaller (1) Plate A Fig 1 Brother-in-arms c1160?

Hold your horses mate coz I just registered on the Basement and viewed the Knight in question.........

Ma tantx qajjimli suf to say the truth What a Face will give it some serious thought before I part with my cash as I was thinking of buying their 90mm and push it a bit on to a Red Zone Hospitaller, now that I had to sell my Andrea 90mm Knight (the one Harold painted as a Templar) to Sam..........

If opting for the 90mm i would go for that mate, but till date IMO this 75 is their best Miles Christi in that range they offered, at least the cappae has volume, still there are some artistic licence and looks similar to some previous renditions ... imma insomma iridu jghamlu xi haga biex jelbu il Chranch li hawn hux ...

    Some questions mela Rolling Eyes

Is that a cappa or a half cappa and half surcoat? I mean afaik the cappa had no front and rear slits per se (I stand to correction here)
I think they made a mix up of Plate G of Warrior's Hospitaller Knight (1)
And if you're gonna make it as a Hospitaller, don't you think that the sheild is a bit "late" for the cappa to be still worn?

As I told you, its a bit stereotype for my tastes, (like we've seen a lot of that pose) but I don't want to distract you from buying it as I'm sure it will paint well..........it just didn't strike me that much and again if my quibbles are "on" there's nothing that a new surgical blade, files and putty will not "cure"

Vive la difference........ha mmur norqod cyclops

    Keep safe.........

As I wrote in the TBF forum, Ray it has some artistic license, and yep it has some correction issues. My most inquisitive guess is a sleevless gambeson, why?, surely so that the sculptor shows mail undear the tear instead of quilted material, which per see is nothing atractive. Regarding the heather shield it started being used from 12/13 century and till date everything is speculative when and how the transition from a black fra cappa changed to black surcoat and then into a red surcoat. OK there is a date guideline but let us face it, keeping in mind that logistics and communication at that period were much slower then nowadays I would still pretend that in the early periods there was a mix of everything. This is the same quible of when and how the eight pointed cross developed, nothing is certain from the existing research till date.

On the other hand artists can still have that cliche of artistic license on such matters. Why a pot helmet aka similar to the 90mm released in Girona, che ne so? Yes it is a bit stereo type but a decent 75mm and potential for a good miles christi.

On the other hand I am awaiting some goudy renditions on the major expos tables ... will see who shall be that brave to dress him up in a red cappa Twisted Evil that shall be the most mortal sin!
