    Hi Guys

I just thought I would add couple of images of the LVG That I am slowly working my way through, its a 1/32 kit from Wing Nut Wings, they are absolutely superb kits to build, if you get a chance to have a go at one then do so..........

Realy nice work you are doing, these kits are a gem. I would definetly be ordering my stock of WWI aircraft from these guys in New Zealand. During 2010, WNW have quite an impresive line up uf kits for release.

How was the wood effect of the interior achieved? it is very realistic.

Keep us posted with progress as WWI is one of my favourit. I think that WWI subjects are adictive as once you start constructing these wonders of flight you won't stop! Smile

Dave, you've definitely dug into this project very nicely. 1/32nd WWI Wings are surely addictive and Mike Good's sculpts of the WWI Aces really adds to the dose Cool

Keep it rolling mate, and keep posting Laughing

Thank you very much everybody for your help and comments on this one, being a total novice at this aircraft modelling, its been a very steep learning curve years of experience squeezed in to a couple of weeks.

Just a little update, I have been finishing off the cockpit and inside of the fuselage, before getting these together, absolutely no problems so far, with fit or following of the instructions, I have decided to change tack slightly on the outside of the Fuselage and will try and work with a Decal wood grain that I have found from the states from misterkit. so I would appreciate if anybody has had any experience with these decals before.

I can see that you've turned into a prolific aircraft nut in no time Dave Twisted Evil

My brother Joseph would be in a better position to sound his advice re decals then me for sure as I only provided Werner Voss Sad while he constructed his DIII Cool

Also anyone who have used decals in question would surely chime in mate.

Happy New Year to you and your loved ones my friend and hope to bump into each other next year Laughing

Brilliant wood effect, you sure are putting your painting skills to excellent effect Smile

Misterkit wood grain decals are a gem to work with, the wood grain is printed on transparent decal sheet and he prints different grades of wood grain. All you have to do is spray the "Wood Base Colour" and then apply the wood grain. For the DIII I used Tamiya Buff, as in reality, the DIII was covered in plywood which was light in colour, but for the LVG I think a darker colour would be more appropriate. Before you start putting the decals ensure that it has a good coat of gloss varnish and surface is smooth to avoid any silvering. As a decal solution I used Mr Setter and Mr Softer from Gunze.

If this was the case, for the LVG, you can change the direction of the wood grain, but again check with some refrence.

I am sure that you will produce another masterpiece and if you require and assistance just post.

What method are you going to use for the rigging, ensure that any anchoring points for rigging are drilled before.

    Thanks guys, much appreciated....

Joseph, thanks for the heads up on the decals I will order them after the holidays, the turnbuckles for the rigging I have already purchased from Bobs Buckles here in the UK, check out his method and what he produces to create the turn buckles at the website below, great looking bits, I have also purchased the tubes ready cut for the job....

Joseph, also WingNut are producing an Albatros DV and LVG special edition both with 10 decal options and all the brass etch already added, these will be out in the next 6 months.....

    Yes, spot on!!!

That's the method I used for the DIII with Bob's turnbuckles and some that I did myself. If you plan your work correctly you should find no problem for the rigging. From where did you purchase the micro tubing, is it brass or plastic as for the DIII, I had to use plastic insulation of telephone wires.

    Hi Joseph

I contacted Albion Alloys for their brass tubing, they sent some out to me and they fit great, they are 3mm long, 0.5mm Outside Diameter and 0.03mm wall thickness, so using 1.5lb fishing line (0.08mm). I have had a quick trial at it, but we shall see when I have to do 80 of them that are on the LVG, they are everywhere....... lol!

Excellent job on the wood painting, some of the best I have seen.

How are Bob's turnbuckles? Can they be attached with a tiny bit of epoxy or rubber cement? I have a pretty bad reaction to super glues.

I had gotten burned out on airplanes again (long story) until a friend of mine who knows the Albatros is my favorite WWI plane really blew me away by sending me both of Wingnut Models Albatros models! I couldn't believe the detail in them and then I started reading build threads and they sound like they build as good as they look. They really fired up my interest in World War I aviation and World War I model planes again.

Bob's turnbuckles are excellent, for attaching them I used Gator Glue.

Thanks for the link! I have some other glue that has Gator in the name, but it's just your basic white glue. It's definitely not this stuff. I am going to have to try it. How quickly does it dry?

It does not dry instantly, it will give you some time to position and re-position things, its like white glue. It has a very strong bond. On the DIII it performed very well.
