Where the hell are you getting all these beautiful WWI figures? They are really great, the pose is fantastic and the dog looks really well done and well proportioned near the man. Great choice!

some information about the dog to....

"The Red Baron's Last Flight" by Franks and Bennet says p95 that "Von Richthofen's dog Moritz was adopted by Leutnant Alfred Gerstenberg, a former pilot in Jasta 11, who took him home to his farm. Many years later Moritz died there of old age. Gerstenberg became a Generalleutnant in the Luftwaffe in WW2 and died in 1959."

Sorry guys, but I just posted the pics before going for night and had no time to update my post so here it goes........

Joseph F & Brian.......this is Andrea's offering and being in white metal and too heavy to carry "loose" like Voss & Bishop, so I decided that this one will be permanently stuck to Voss' & Bishop's base let him be Laughing

So no plane for this one, but for the the Red Baron's Red Triplane, which Joseph will eventually build, I bought ModelCellar's Manfred Von Richtofen, which being in light resin, makes him safer to carry "loose" just like Voss & Bishop.

But no more 1st the Pilot, then the Aircraft with the same Pilot Evil or Very Mad

The novelty, which one can easily say occured by chance when Voss' Albatros DIII was not finished in time for Euro of last year, has expired with Billy Bishop sort Sad

Marco thanks a lot for your invaluable info as always I love you

I believe that Moritz was a Great Dane from the pics and from the dog's anatomy. Mike Good did a perfect rendition on the ModelCellar's Moritz....exactly as the last pic where Moritz is shown in the sitting position, but this one is quite good anyway Smile

    Hi Ray

This is not a bad figure, but I do have to say that the face is not as accurate as the Modelcellar version, if its the same size, I would have changed it for the modelcellar one, the cap is far better as well. It should be a great figure when finished

Hi matey what's cookin on your work bench after Euro fever?

Congrats on your well deserved GOLD in Class1 my friend!

I agree with you re both models, but am reserving ModelCellar's for when he'll stand near his red plane Laughing

As I said, even Moritz is far better, let alone the true likeness of Manfred and the cap on ModelCellar's....Mike Good is unbeatable as usual Twisted Evil

I just had this offering for a while and even before ModelCellar's came up with the goods, so I thought that it would do for a quick assembly and paintjob pale

    Keep safe mate.

Moritz is at heel & saying "cheese" for the commemorative photo of Antoine's wedding I love you

I am proud to announce that both the bride & groom to be, Shirley & Antoine where so pleased with my "choice" of their wedding present cheers

I was a bit sceptic at the begining knowing that Antoine is an Englishman more then the English themselves where Liverpool FC & the National team are concerned, in giving him a WWI Pilot other then an Englishman pale but he really was excited & showed his appreciation & his long time wish to own a "figure from you guys" I love you

Enjoy the Red Baron my SSM Bro, ama I enjoyed painting him for you I love you

Lovely work Ray but i must say that the highlight is the jacket which is a work of art the way you painted it. As far as the guy's face goes, it is not so truthful to the actual but you did a fine painting job. However, if Moritz is the same dog as the one in the photos attached, then the colour you gave him is wrong. He was of the Brindle type and not a single colour dog.

Ray, a great rendition of this lovely figure. I'm sure Antoine and bride will cherish it deeply.
I have to agree with Brian re-dog. I have pics of the dog since, as you know I painted this one some time ago. None the less a great piece of work
