MTM 2 CAMION BLINDADO Empty MTM 2 CAMION BLINDADO

Post  alexbb Fri Sep 07, 2012 9:58 am

reworked camion blindado MTM2 (8 photos)
originally i built thismodel some years ago. back than all i had where a set of scale plans from f.c. albert. recently i came across some photos of the vehicle and decided to rework the model. i removed the paint and added new wheel arches vents nad doors plus all other minor detail. the turret had to be re done from scratch . i will soon add barely visible wheels and prime model. my main concern is replicating the multitude of slogans on the vehicle. any ideas out ther hoe i can realistically replicate slogans without them looking too cartoonish..

Alex, my first instinct would be to brush paint them onto the model. i think that would leave the best most realistic effect without looking stupid and artificial. alternatively, if you don;t want to risk, try them out on clear decal sheet and then apply to the model. But they will not look as good as painted directly onto it. They were roughly applied so you wouldn;t need to be that neat, there is a degree of leeway in it.

i have ruled out decal trim some of the slogans too thin to trim around the transparent. will will be difficult to hide due to heavy weathering. airbrushing is not an option for some slogans freehand that is but others are clearly brush painted i guess have to practice my brushwork.

Alex, you don;t need to trim around the decals, you will trim as close as possible but then you will give them the old gloss varnish treatment and presto, any extra decal film is gone, like we do on the aircraft. Alternatively, try to make masks using thin plastic or even paper and spray on the slogans by keeping the paper on the model, you can tape it down or wet it like i sometimes do. It works very well for aircraft, should work for your tank. You can print them to scale on paper and then cut them out using a new blade, that will give you the mask you need. Just my ideas, but that is how i would go about it for those that cannot be brush painted. Besides, i am pretty sure you are still great with the brush. That is like swimming and cycling, you cannot forget how to do it. Just a good deal of patience. You don;t even need a good brush, they were very crudely applied.

Another MadMax, man I love these beast, you should start casting them ... I would be one of the buyers! You now I love this war : )

Yep I agree it was done freehand and should be done freehand and rough, these were not done 'pimp mycar' style of paintwork so being 'rough' will look appropriate ... will this be ready also for Euro?
