Finally I can say the chapter is closed, this might have been one of the most intensive project I have done till date, though at first look it is a very minimalist set up ... the story behind and what is the dove looking upon is more a message, the historical one - the KVI which is known as the child of Leningrad, entering back the city and the reunion of a family, not a common thing after the 4 year war as many died of starvation and cold. Figures are all heavily converted, minus pepping Ivan and the mother.
Paintwork I tried to work as much as possible on a montone scheme, utilising the modulation effect and givening impact only on the girl - that is why a red coat [burrowed from a scene in Schindler's list].
On a historical note Leningrad was beseiged for 4 years, it was common that in 44 'old' pattern uniform and first batch tanks were still being utilisied as supplies had yet not reached the city. Those with a sharp eye might notice a German sign which never was put in use by them, as the name of 'Lenin - grad' offended their regime the sign for the city was already changed to Petersburg - this was not to happen before the 90s when communism fell.
Sorry not the best fotos around as well as the worst headache on this dio was to work everything as a jigsaw, so that I can dismantle for transport. Big thanks to Sammy for doing the woodwork [base] for me ... thanks laddie and Steve for the flowers ... this sounds gayish hux!
