McLaren 570S

A 3800cc V8 engine on the inside (that sounds like celestial music...) located in the center of the chassis makes this McLaren 570S a veeeeeeery fun machine while fast and stable. They say about it that it is "the most afordable of its range" (as if that matters in that range for common mortals... who knows, maybe someday you'll find yourself driving it to the supermarket ;-P

The lads at Revell, just like us, prefer not to wait for that moment: they have decided to reproduce it in 1/24 scale for enjoying it today, at least in some way , and the first kits will soon be available at SpotModel.

Who knows if they will also send one in 1:1 scale as a gift? XD

Acrysion

This is the ultragalactic name used for renaming the new Mr Hobby acrylic range paints (usually known by many of us as "Gunze"). We've all known the "Aqueous" range for many years, that rendered so great results with both brush and airbrush, but times change and products evolve and that's exactly what happened with Mr Hobby acrylic paints.

The "Acrysion" range achive an even glossier finish, with incredible auto-leveling properties that make brush finishings much more uniform and smoother, their chemical components are more environment friendly, and dry times are between 5 and 15 seconds. Incredible!!

Little by little the "Aqueous" range will be discontinued and only the "Acrysion" range will prevail, which is already available at SpotModel. Times change... really fast! Jump aboard and we will take you to the future

A new lap

Ford GT 2016

One of the greatest attractions of the last 24 Hours of Le Mans was the participation of Ford with their Ford GT. It was the return of the brand exactly 50 years after their first victory, in the legendary duel staged by Ford and Ferrari in the second half of the sixties.

That's how we felt after having a look at the new Decalcas decals for the BMW M3 E30. We were eager for their arrival, because these guys at Decalcas are doing really interesting things lately, and this was a little new step in their career: so far they had released some generic decals, but little by little they are daring to make some specific decorations, and now they took advantage of the release of Aoshima's new model to launch two very attractive products.

The decoration of a much admired pilot in Spain, José Mari Ponce, featuring Camel as its main sponsor, and a beautiful decoration from 1987 ATCC with John Player Special in golden mirror effect that will make tears come out of excitement to the eyes of every modeler worth his salt

And they have bet on the winning horse, because they have chosen Cartograf as their supplier, and it shows... what a quality, what a definition, what a color saturation! :-OOO

A tomato in stripes

Starsky and Hutch, the two California cops from the popular American television series of 70s, were known and admired (among other things) for driving a fast and distinctive Ford Torino painted in red with a long white stripe: the "tomato in stripes"

Über-bends

It's not easy to be exactly on the line while taking a bend. An is even more complicated to be on the line bend after bend, after bend, after bend ... It's reaaaaally really difficult, even if you are a high-flying scale modeler.

But from now on, "off track" accidents stop: our very experienced friends from Tamiya Japan want to lend us a hand with our problems with those uber bends, and for that they have invented the masking tapes for curves that allow you to take those really tight bends impossible do with any other materials. There are now 2, 3 and 5mm widths, and soon also in 12 millimeters wide version

Jabbeke

This is the name of a Belgian town that, in the middle of last century, became quite relevant in the automotive world because several British car manufacturers went there to run speed tests with their vehicles: Triumph, Rover, Jaguar ... Back in 1953, Jaguar got the speed record with the XK120, reaching 172 miles per hour.

But today, for the SpotModel team and for we all scale modelers who love motor racing, the name of Jabbeke is relevant for another reason: the twenty-second edition of the "On the road" International Scale Model Expo of Civil Vehicles will be held there next week all celebrated the week and... we will be there!!! Yipppppeee!!!

So, don't panic, but next Thursday 9th and Friday 10th our warehouse will be closed, but once we get back we will get immediately up to speed with your shipments.

Mean Machine

It was during the 80s when "Group B" cars were banned from the rally championship. Lancia wanted to stay in the competition, and they thought: what if we take the street legal Lancia Delta, fit it with a four wheel drive, a powerful engine with turbo, and put on sale to comply with the "Group A" regulations?

The idea was called Lancia Delta HF Integrale, an absolutely mean machine which became a true myth. It achieved huge glories for Lancia during many years: nothing less than six seasons in a row crowning the Constructors' award of the World Rally Championship, a record that still remains unbeatable.

Hasegawa is re-editing the kit with new decals, Shunko has released several decals too, and soon we will see at SpotModel shelves new photo-etched parts and decals from other manufacturers.

Best of the show

Last Monday we came back to our daily tasks at SpotModel after awakening from a dream called the "On the road" International Scale Modeling Expo, held over the weekend at Jabbeke (Belgium). We have been at a few national and international expos and contests, but this one certainly surprised us very pleasantly!!

We enjoyed chatting with modellers while showing their builds, browsing the many shops stuffed with interesting products and discontinued jewels, staring at the large number and variety of models exposed. But what we liked most, our own personal "best of the show", was the good mood that was all over the place. It is gratifying making new friends that feel your same passion, even if they don't speak your language

But make no mistake, we are also really pleased and proud that the actual "Best of the Show" award of the event went to the great SpotModel friend Borja Martínez Reques, with whom we shared this "Flemish" adventure ;DDDDD

"Miura" is the name of a famous Spanish bull-fighting bulls breed whose specimens are exceptionally beautiful and brave, nervous and fast... pure studs.

"Lamborghini Miura" is a machine born in Italy during the 60s, and its different models are exceptionally beautiful and brave, nervous and fast ... pure sport cars.

A few months ago, on the 50th anniversary of the presentation of the Lamborghini Miura at the Geneva Motor Show, several vehicles of the Italian brand visited the renowned ranch where the bulls are born and bred. A fantastic day for the Miura lovers

Hasegawa has promised us that the model of the recently restored Lamborghini Miura unit with chassis number 4846 will arrive at SpotModel's shelves in the next months.

Atlas Classics Rally

Last week took place the Atlas Classics Rally at Morocco, an event that combines the taste of adventure and competition with an admirable humanitarian work. The adventure is a journey through Morocco driving popular and at least twenty years old classics and off-road vehicles.

We have left our mark among the memories, adventures and anecdotes of the Rally: the Subaru Legacy of our beloved Jorge and Beatriz worn the SpotModel logo on its bodywork

Colle 21

Finally we have on our workbench one of those magic products that make our scale modeling lifes much easier. We are talking about the Colle21, a cyanoacrylate glue that has the peculiarity of being "anaerobic".

This wonder has several peculiarities: it offers very good results in terms of stress, impact and vibration resistance, it is very fluid, it dries quickly as it does with cyanoacrylate adhesives, also offers good resistance to chemical and environmental aging, and the most important thing is that we are going to achieve the correct positioning of parts, especially those small ones, knowing that we have aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the time we need for planning and positioning them, since the glue does not dry while handling, but only when the parts are put together!!!

Type 88

The genius of Colin Chapman gave birth to an utterly bold machine under the name of Lotus Type 88. And what was so special about it? The 88 used a clever entirely portable secondary chassis, resting on top of the true chassis, that reduced its floor height to as low as 6 or 7 cm once the studied and calculated critical velocity was reached, pushing down this chassis towards the solid body enough to barely touch the track and generate the ground effect this way. In addition, it didn't have a spoiler or rear wing, which resulted in less drag

But the solution didn't work as well as it should: only three races were enough to prove that the idea had to be improved, but much more couldn't be done to overcome the technical problems, since the regulation changed and the use of this solution was forbidden

Old rockers never die

Every one knows: "old rockers never die". Who didn't build the Ford Escort with the transparent body by Esci 35 years ago? I can see it on the shelf right from my chair: it was my very first assembly of a rally car :'-)

A few years later, Revell reissued Esci's kit right as the century changed. Even though, they still are hard to find "treasures", and if you are lucky enough to get one, the decals would be really ruined... but anyway hold on to them, because they represent the machine that most rallies have Won in racing history.

And suddenly, early this year, Italeri gave us the best news when they announced the new release of the Ford Escort Mk. II kit... Oh yeah! Now you can preorder at SpotModel, with arrival estimated by early July
