Seeing these drawings, you can either make the attachment for the prop which would look cool or even leave it as it is since it will be ok as well. It depends on how much work you want to do to finish the engine.

Great work so far! One suggestion for something to use for making the walls, popsicle sticks are a nice cheap supply for thin wood, they can be cut to the sizes needed and then stained and weathered. They can be purchased separately, but then you lose the fun of eating the popsicle!

Thanks for the suggestion Slingshot, but I already finished the walls in plasticard. I will post some pics.

Thanks for looking Brian. I'm leaving it as it is. Will only give it a coat of Mig's oil and grease pigment to finish it off.

Re: Werner Voss in 1:48scale
Had to stop cause I'm still waiting for the 3.2 x 3.2 styrene strips to use for the Hangar's wooden framework.
inside...
outside...
Meanwhile, I'm painting two wheels to place them outside the hangar. What colour mix do you use for realistic WW1 aircraft tyres? I was thinking of a very dark grey washed with burnt umber filter, what do you think?

imho the rubber on early ww1 aircraft and vehicles for that matter would have been a mid shade of grey for the simple reason that vulcanization of rubber (which gives it the distinctive blak colour) started later in the 20"s
btw i love the worn out looking colour of the shed's outer walls

Re: Werner Voss in 1:48scale
I agree with Alex, the outer walls look great. As for the tyres, black is definitly out of question, I use dark grey, sometimes mixed with a very little brown when doing tyres on my WWII models, but I would wait for the WWI aircraft experts for their opinion.

As I already told you when I have seen it at the club the wood is top notch, I love the effect of weathered outside and natural inside.

Thanks for watching and your comments. Regarding the tyres I will take Alex advice and paint them mid grey with a brownish tinge.

No I haven't started painting Werner yet because I'm trying my newly purchased Andrea flesh set on some spare hornet heads in order to find a good mix before committing it to Werner's face. I must say that I'm not very impressed with the results yet, but could be that I need to darken a bit the base colour, which I will be doing this evening.

Those walls are beautiful! How did you do the inside walls?
Here is a good article on doing World War I tires, it's the column way on the right. This site has a lot of good stuff for World War I airplanes.

Thank you slingshot. Thanks for the link too.
I did the inside walls by first painting the individually scribed plasticard planks with different shades of brown, then washed them with Badab black, Gryphon sepia and Devlan mud Citadel washes.

I want to try that technique for dry brushing some parts before the final clear coat. Hopefully it will work, it looks great on the tire.

Re: Werner Voss in 1:48scale
Just finished painting Werner's face. Sorry, no photos as they didn't come out good Tomorrow will bring it with me to the club, and please be very critic!! Doesn't matter if I redo it another two or three times, the important thing is that in the end I end up with a decent face
