    Weathering Workshop Empty Weathering Workshop

Post  iCocker Fri Mar 25, 2011 10:36 am

Those interested next Wednesday we are starting a small workshop with the idea to keep it an ongoing process to develop and hands on experience where we can. The idea is not exactly a workshop but discussing a topic, the available rescources, medium and techniques and hopefully we get further development on these current practice. It is concentrated on AFV weathering but these techniques can be developed on all other fields, and that is the idea ... and maybe we can come up with something innovative!

So next Wednesday we shall start who is interested ... it not going a lengthy topic as I know all of us needs to have a taste of our chef's speciality of the month!

That's a great idea Ivan, I for one will definitely benefit from such sessions. As Ray said, it would be great if they could be recorded but if that's not possible someone could still take notes and format them into a simple guide or "how-to" document which could then be shared Very Happy

I took consideration that you shall be busy in the kitchen mate, so next week session shall be an intro, so it shall be just an intro and explanation what mediums and material is needed ... and how to train the eye to notice weathering in everyday life ...

Sorry from my side no digis ... but if anyone can provide he is more then welcome!

It will be great if a 'veteran' can give a demonstration on:

*spraying gloss & matt varnish. its always quite tough to spray & get an even cover esp with gloss. Also spraying gloss on gloss or matt on matt

*Spraying smooth paint jobs without any sand paper-ish finishes

Speaking of workshops, a set of sessions on scratch building techniques and materials would also be great. I really like the idea of making your own parts as you go along, it embodies the very spirit of our hobby IMHO, even though it can be a pain sometimes. However, when done right the end result is definitely worth it. Just take Brian's Bf 110s as an example... painstaking but amazing!

I could not open a new thread, when this title is so APPROPRIATE for today's blessed weather Laughing "Weathering Workshop" & maybe REVIVE it as well Evil or Very Mad

So, affectionately dedicated to ALL, but ESPECIALLY to Brian with a bit more sentiment I love you who PRAY endlessly for "WEATHERED WEEKENDS" in Scale Modelling Language, I've decided it would be a "construction day" so I'll savour the drizzle in the back garden construction workshop cheers

    See ya all later Cool

You lucky retired gentleman!! I have been at work all morning and will return there shortly. So much for the excellent modelling weather, alas only for the chosen lucky few, our ex-boys in blue.

Savour it Ray and make the best of it!! You will never forgive yourself if you don;t. Oh if i had a few days on my own, sometimes i consider trying a few days in jail. The only problem would be to take all the modeling stuff over there. If i could i might not want to get out.

It may be a great day for modelling, but not for painting.... I got primer sprayed on a model and it's still tacky. Any idea how I can speed up the drying process?

Gas burner Twisted Evil Twisted Evil it will be dry in seconds, just do not inhale the block smoke Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Joking apart, do not touch it, place it in a clean area where there is some ventilation and let it dry by itself and handle it only when sure it is 100% dry.
