Good morning all,
Not many pictures today, as I spent the whole weekend on duty with my lathe and worked on the 150mm gun barrels for the secondary armament. I need 12 of these barrels to equip the twin gun mountings, which amount to four casemates; and the single mountings which are of the open type and mounted on both sides in midship position.
Below are the pictures of the work carried out.
An original photo showing the casemate mountung the twin 150mm calibre secondary armament.
An isometric view of the casemate.
An isometric view of the casemate with an anti-aircraft mounting open type platform added on the front turrets only. These were added to enhance the protection against enemy aircraft, prior to operation "Cerberus".
An isometric view of a single gun mount of the open type.
An isometric view of the rear side of the same gun mount.
The barrel on the lathe taking form.
Another view of the same barrel.
The barrel ready for finishing and polish.
An array of nine barrels - three more to go, and the 150mm calibe gun barrels for this ship will be ready for mounting into their respective casemates (gun turrets).
This week I will try to have the other three barrels ready, as I have other plans for the weekend.
Will post more photos next Thursday.
