Working on this for the Malta Group Build over on Britmodeller - though worth posting here too
1:32 Macchi C.202 - MM7848 flown by Sergente Maggiore Faliero Gelli of the 378 Squadrilia, 155 Gruppo, 51st Stormo.
This aeroplane was shot down over Gozo by George "Buzz" Beurling while escorting nine German Ju-88s in mission over Malta. July 27th 1942...
Sergente Maggiore Gelli had previously claimed three Spitfires shot down over Malta and managed to crash land on the island of Gozo. He apparently suffered only minor injures and became a Prisoner of War..
Couple of great references:
The kit - been loft insulation too long:
Short run injection, resin and etch - nice package:
Possible source of spares - and certainly some decals:
Some images of the crash site:
I've seen illustrations showing cowl panels in lighter camouflage - but not convinced. Does anyone have any info on this aeroplane?
