Can anybody give me a link where I can get that snow stuff....saw it on some of your models which has some glitter in it...intend to do some smallish icebergs with the Varyag....

What do you think Lou? i prefer the Tamiya product, it is more realistic. The other particles seem to be too big and out of scale.

If you plan icebergs Lou, model them in clay take a form and cast them in resin blended with microbaloons and some blue dye, it will capture the effect of ice more then anything ... go to the sight of the French diomaster

Ivan your idea is brilliant but I don't think I will have the time because I have to get this ready for Telford.....issa Jiena I'm not planning to do Icebergs imam shaped pieces of ice floating in the water.....not flat imma shaped and not too big have to be careful about the size ghax the Varyag 's bow was not strong enough to crush ice to pave it's way...so it's only going to be sizeable floating pieces of ice to make it more interesting...nahseb naqbel ma Brian...Tamiya wud be my best bet...

No Lou it is not good, texture is big for 1/350 if you are restricted in time you can work with wax and varnishes, create teh same effect of froozen water [qed thallat borra ma silg ifrizat man!] ... if you work with those small teacup candles available at the Lira shop they create a great effect aswell ...

Never thought of that. Ivan is correct, in that scale you cannot have any texture on the surface even if it were snow which it isn't. You need something more solid.

have concocted an idea of my own.....coating the ice with different light blue hues of PVA glue...then a couple of satin finishes will do the trick...have to remember the scale though...thanks all....

It should work Nan! PVA glue makes also the trick, you can also bond it with wax! You know those small candles found in small uliminium caps [found at tal-Lira shops] they have a sintetic white wax, that when combined with white glue and stains will also do the ice effect trick ... when dry they give a translucent plasticy effect that really mimics frozen water ... never tried it but have seen it done and works!
