The compressor
I changed the fuse
didnt have 5 A so I put 13A
Bang
I dismantled the whole cover
Part of the pcb blown
Its a 250V DC motor with a single cylinder pump
Must have had the motor jammed
cranked it a couple of turns
replaced fuse this time 6.3A
Bang
Bridge rectifier shorted
need to replace it
time out
I changed the fuse
didnt have 5 A so I put 13A

I dismantled the whole cover
Part of the pcb blown
Its a 250V DC motor with a single cylinder pump
Must have had the motor jammed

Next time you turn it on, you should keep a safe distance, just in case.
Let's say of about a kilometer or two

Jo as you might have noticed the time it was midnight. I took it with me to work as I thought it was a quick fix. on the second bang the circuit breaker tripped which is monitored by data track which in turn called back reporting a mains failure.
UFN next wed airbrush lecture is on hold.

Exploding compressors can be very dangerous and WILL kill! After an hour of nonstop pumping i get paranoid somtimes 
Esp when it gets as hot as an oven!

It's not the compressor tank Adrian that exploded! It's the electrical part and it is no different from something like a washing machine! If the bridge is shorted, a replacement can be bought from G&E electronics, if I'm not mistaken for less than 5 euros.
