to tell you the truth i don't have the slightest idea. the Phantom took almost 3yrs in the making but i built another 3 models during this time. now i have only this model to construct and i hope that if everything goes according to plans i hope that in 3 to 4 months i will finish it.

Those were RF-8A Crusaders, recon version of the F-8B, so different from a F-8E since the RF-8 hade a squarish front fuselage to accomodate the cameras. The F-8B was also different from the F-8E, having different engines, nose radome, exhaust area, no dorsal hump, different ejection seat and tail configurations. The first flight of the F-8B was in late 1958, while that of the F-8E was in mid 1961.
The cuban missile crisis RF-8A were from either VFP-62 or VFP-63. VFP-62 recieved the Navy Unit Commendation The pilots who flew the missions over cuba recieved the Distinguished Flying Cross, with one RF-8 being hit by a 37mm shell but making back.

this is the progress done on the first day of construction.
this is the Aries detail set
Engine detail, its a pitty that all that detail will be lost once the fuselage halves will get together
The kits front wheel well detail sanded down

marco, can you please check for me if the front windscreen was tinted or not because on the squadron signal walkaround is not that clear.

Re: 1/32nd F-8E Crusader
Marco i have a little bit of a problem regarding the interior colour of the crusader (not the cockpit or wheel wells). in the Squadron Signal walkaround im finding two colours (zinc cromate yellow and green) but i think that the colour photos are from two different aircraft. my qusestion is, could it be possible that on the same aircraft one can find both colours? my idea is that i spray the cannon bays green and the refuling pod bay in yellow. what do you think?
