    Trumpeter's KV2...not a bad kit all in all...
    Was planning to do a quick OOTB build but as always happens in this case I end up unable to coexist with the model without detailing it a bit here and there...
    I ended up settling for new weld beads, Aber lifting lugs, Eduard early meshes and Friul tracks ofcourse (which also come with the drive sprockets). The aerial pot was thinned and a new antenna mount fashioned with a needle and fine wire. Barrel is from Lionroar.

    Nice Giant Dott! Green or White wash? Took you some time for a simple ruskie Shocked

    Wayne this tank was a nightmare to the Germans thank God it was a top heavy and had problems, one famous KV2 made a solo last stand in a middle of the road and held a German tank brigade from passing only when they brought in the 88mm AA they managed to stop it but not destroying it ... by the way captured ones were converted by the Nazis to be used on Operation Hercules, the invasion of Malta.

    The rear engine mesh and side air intake grills were particularly difficult to get together and the welding was tedious to say the least but I can say I am now an expert at applying welding marks hehe..

    Still havent decided whether I shall go for 4BO or winter whitewash though...
    I might even change the kit storage boxes and build some PE ones...mmmmmm

    Although My subject is german armour, I have always considered the Soviet armour designs to be practical and sound, as the KV2 was.

    The kit is very neat, and the brass and photo edged extras work wonders. Very Happy

    I see that you have adapted white metal driver wheels. Are the track in white metal as well or the Modell Kasten plastic type? Question

    are friulmodel...kit gives you option of link and length plastic tracks (a portion of which is shown accompanying the short friul run) or one piece vinyl (which i dislike). Friulmodel tracks come with the metal drive sprocket which IMHO is superior to the plastic one and didn't need adapting at all...

    wasn't completely happy with the eduard PE air intake grills so I used a set of Aber ones instead...think they look much better now...
