I got this kit as part of a swap, here are some pics:

It's quite a nice kit, if you're prepared to do a bit of scratchbuilding of details. Major work involved moving the turret ring 3mm forward, adding texture to the hull and turret, handles and weld marks (fuel tanks, turret, mg cupola, circular bases to the towing shackles), rain guard over the drivers visor, casting numbers on cupola and turret rear. Still a bit of work to go, but any comments most welcome. Tracks are from Trumpeter KV-II, but will be replaced with aftermarket ones.

P.S. In the second picture the turret and curved turret ring positions are as they were before being moved forward 3mm.

Looking good, that was a real rare tank as only few were produced due that the IS2 was prefered to this version. You made good justice from this old hag. What I am not sure if you need also to change the 2 intakes with typical KVIS type [the one featured are updates done in a Finnish museum which are not what the Russians had].

Looking forward for painting and weathering ...

    Thanks Ivan.

As for the intakes, I may change them if I can get some spares. I was under the impression they were fitted to early versions, but thanks for the advice Smile

I think it captures the look of the KV-85 very well, its a menacing-looking tank!

I think you can use the Eduard ZOOM Pe dedicated to KV2 [as these were similar in design to K1S type] and with some minor update, ie. some re-inforcement from below these will turn the appropriate type ... hope it helps!

Yes I agree this is one menacing beast, I love Ruskie heavies ...

Same here, although I like all the Soviet WW2 and indeed, pre-WW2 tanks. I'm looking for a 1:35 T-26 if you know anybody who has one they want rid of, will trade . . . and a KV-1 as well Smile

Got the splash ring on, used triangular section plastic strip. The gap behind the turret ring doesn't need filled as the turret covers it.

Made a tow-rope from copper wire, added the tow shackles and mount to the hull sides. Should have this finished quite soon, well at least primed Smile

Do forum members think the tow-rope is ok? I'm not sure, so any advice is more than welcome Smile

I agree with Marco, they look too scale, I fancy what you are doing on this tank ... know some paint on?

There's still a bit of work to do on the hull rear, but I'd like to get it in primer by the end of the week Smile
