WOW man, that is absolutely terrific. My favourite photos are those showing the shield. This looks absolutely real especially the battle damage. Definitely one of your best, but then every new figure you paint becomes your best.

Seems like the SSM band of brothers will have a contingent of hospitallers to toe!

Dont know if its a photo effect but the shield looks satin/gloss...should it be that way?

Brilliant execution Ray looking forward for the final set-up, x'kien ta l-ahhar Ray?

On a lighting point of view, still the set up looks to be strong and you are getting a greenish thinge on the metal [normally that comes from neon light], are you using teh free energy saving lights provided by our PM? Are you diffusing the light ?

On a historical note, but I forgive you for the urgency on the piece, that shield is an Eastern European style, more associated with Hungury, Poland, Rumanians, Russians,Teutonics etc ... but the Knight might have been German and coming from a Crusading adventure with the Teutons, we now the Orders were friends ... so we can never be certain hux!

Typical shield would have been more the heather style, but as I said above, Germans started using this particular style and yep Germans were one of the strongest languages in the Order ...

Forgot ... Dottore stick to OD and Shermans please!

The satin finish depicts painting on leather, the cover of the shield ...

You're right it's the pics that are showing that "glossy" effect Sad

Ivan is right as well as it was covered in leather Twisted Evil and it has that slight worn effect of Oils Laughing

Lighting rig is the same as used by Ernesto Reyes, even the camera is the same Sony DC something Sad I HAD TO ARRANGE them PICS with photo editor Sad Embarassed Sad Embarassed

Re sheild's shape, you're right Ivan, as I did some research No Evil or Very Mad but when I asked Augie, some time last year, if I can paint our friend as a Hospitaller w/o any modifications, he said that all I had to do was paint him as a Hospitaller except for the snout visor which Laruccia sculpted a little on the chunky side and which Mauro Griselli fabricated from plastic. However Augie took a different approach and shaped the visor from the kit's item, something which I did as well as I wanted to use the metal Suspect

Hmmm, Ernesto forgot to say that he is a graphic artist and photoshop is second nature to him ...

Regarding the shield as I told you he is German and brought it with him ...

Anyway, a great piece, as always! But you guys put me off figure painting! Man, if I have to start again, it will take me ages to reach your standard!
