Re: Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby GT 500
Well I know I shouldn't since we are off on hols in a couple of days but here is a start.
I've cut one of the doors out, just the boot, the other door and the inners to go.

Re: Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby GT 500
Hi all a small update on this
I used copper wire for this which I think is a bit too soft the door sags when opened so i think I will have to change it for some other sort of wire, I also think I need to move the hinge further back on the door so it clears the body better, but quite pleased for a first attempt at opening a closed door.

Re: Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby GT 500
Hi all last update for a week as on hols in the morning
Uprated the door hinges, no sag now
thought I better check clearances with the internals, as you can see only about 1/2 a mill clearance, that's a lucky one.
given her a coat of primer so she will have a week for that to fully cure

Re: Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby GT 500
How are things in Turkey? there was meant to be some trouble there, so i heard on the news lately. hope all is well at your end. Next time round come and sunbathe here and we could have a beer together, lots of sunbeds around and plenty of sun too, maybe a tad too much.

That is really nice work, how do you manage all this modeling. Do you work at all or is this your full time job?

Re: Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby GT 500
Hi all well after a lot of retouching and smoothing I've got the dash on the Shelby satisfactory, its not great but it will have to do, I've made some break pipes from the sevo and added the vacuum pipe (not sure where it fits on this car but its usually on the inlet manifold somewhere)

Re: Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby GT 500
Hi all, well whilst doing some weathering on the engine bay I started to think all this work on the engine and engine bay and you wont see any of it when its finished so, I thought, what about an engine hoist and doing it with the engine being removed, now my question is would it be possible to remove the engine and gearbox complete or would I have to separate them (which would then mean making a flywheel and bell housing and the splined shaft for the gearbox, also what else would be removed to get the engine out, I assume the injection system?

Re: Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby GT 500
Hi all, here is the last update for a long time on this one
really not happy with this so I think I'm going to box it up and shelve it for a while, before I throw it at the wall, cant put my finger on whats turning me off it, I think its just the fact that nothing on it is really up to a standard I'm happy with, the paint job is not shiney enough the engine is really not one of my better weathering efforts (certainly not up to the bike standards) the door shuts lets face it are laughable and I've found out the doors open inside the wings not as I have them, it just all adds up to a piece of rubbish (yes it can all be rectified (fairly easily)) but the shine has gone off it for me and if I force myself to finish it I can see it taking a flying lesson.

My daughter has been touring the USofA in one of these
So I'm going to convert this and give it to her for christmas, I've made a start

Re: Revell 1/12 Ford Shelby GT 500
Quite a job cut out for you then you had sprayed certain parts of the interior especially the engine bay in blue already. When its all in piece its one thing but now that its put together....
