laffly am80 1/35
this is my latest. this is a resin model of the french laffly am80 armoured car. the model is from des resins and is a very very good kit. the fit is equal to if not superior to most commercial plastic kits around and the detail is fine and accurate. the kit went together without any major problems and additional detail needed was minimal

Re: laffly am80 1/35
the model was primed using plasticote sandable grey primer straight from the can. i use this type of sprey as i find it sprays evenly and thin it also gives me a strong etched surface to work on.
next the model was given a rough overall slightly metallic dark brownish grey irregulal coating and lowlights in black with enamel paints. i havnt used enemels for a long time and forgot how much they smelled. the running board was also painted in a wood tone colour. i used enamels so that i will not have to seal the model with matt since some areas, notably running board and hatches, etc are to be given the hairsprey technique together with latex masking for scratches and weathering, the underside was given a browner tone .

How sweet n cool she looks with those mudguards and that thick armour
I'm imagining her spinning the rear wheels just the same 1st u 2nd
Don't rush it Alex, but please get it READY for Catania as we might need her to RAM PS
So great to see you still "producing" despite flu's setback

Re: laffly am80 1/35
did i say i wasnt going to RUSH THIS?
WELL IM GOING TO EAT MY WORDSplent of time on my hands so.
after applying hairsprey with airbrush i started layering thin coats of tamiya nato green acrylic, than using darkened base colour to create shadows and lightned base colour to creat highlights
next the scribble camouflage was applied using acrylic i do have some oversprey but this will almost certainly be unnoticed once weathering is applied, so no need to go into all the trouble of cleaning up the said overspray.

finished scratching the model gave it a light satin coat and added decal. once dry i will apply my decal concoction to remove silvering film and the worst part of it all wait until everything is bone dry

This REALLY ROCKS mate and that water reflection effect with that scribble (I think the pale blue background is aiding that effect) is driving me crazy with anticipation to see it "in the flesh" on Wed k'Alla Jrid

Brian, always a pleasure to help and increase my tally of posts
Joking apart, Brian do you see that "water reflection" effect with the scribble? I know that it is greatly enhanced by the pale blue background like she's in an aquarium, but it's really driving me nuts and I keep saying that She's so cool n sexy

Re: laffly am80 1/35
Thing is that when something is submerged in shallow water and photographed, the pattern the sunlight makes on the waves is just like his scribble, so i fully agree with you, but as you say, the blue surrounds amplify this effect. Maybe it is in an aquarium but where are the goldfish!?

Re: laffly am80 1/35
ABOUT TIME I EXPLAINED
the vehicle was used in tunisia by the french and to break down the shape and green colour they used scribble camo which gave the effect of haze or as you put it water effect, a mirage effect
