the front aircraft is more freshly painted than the one in the background which looks more faded, have a closer look at the fin flashes of both airframes

Listen guys i have yet another theory. If you notice the photo again, the panels on the nose below the exhaust stacks are of the same or very close to the colour of the rest of the fuselage. A bit faded but the hue is there. However, the top panels (above the exhaust stacks) are the much lighter ones. These might have been replacements from another aircraft and the camo was then retouched with paint which was much darker and did not match the original scheme at all. Whatever was available at the maintenance unit or even in the field, it depends where the hurri came from. Everything is possible with these aircraft!! Hence the anomaly on the nose and the lighter coloured top cowl. Also, if this was so, the patching would have been freehand and hasty, hence the heavy feathering on the darker camo colour. They might also have retouched the wings outboard of the cannon if this was necessary, using the same colour!!! Another theory. Since we were not there, we cannot really say for certain now can we?

Taken during HIS 2009, although hurricanes are older by a couple of years. Used a preset B/W option in the programme straight.

Nope, , again look at the markings, the difference in the intesity of the blue/red + the aircraft in the background looks much more worked and certainly a few more days in the desert sun will turn the aircraft in the front the same as the one in the background midstone/dark earth

Brian hinted perfectly we can't jump into clear conclusion on hazy BW images, neither colour ... but it is a good experience to challenge our observation ... by the way are we sticking to Desert scheme Marco, as I need to start planning the other implements and colours ...

By teh way for the mud, we do like the snails after it rains we go to Ta Qali and gether some photoreportage and samples so we can do a colour code, might we do a fieldwork and check what fauna and vegetation was present so we remain in the contest and be precise

Not in this picture , as both have odd numbers HV633 and the other looks HW313, from the 7th production batch of 1888 aircraft by Hawker Aircraft LTD at kingston,langley and brooksland, with the batch including mkIIb, MkIIc, and mkIId with merlinXX engines and two types of propellers.

Ivan,

Hurricane is at club, our biggest question is going to be, from where the AFV is going to tow?

Technically the Hurricane was only towed (mechanically) from the tail wheel by attaching, I think, a tow bar. The main undercarriage is to fragile to withstand such punishment and even the wings are not ideal to be used as towing points!

Diorama wise, is it possible to depict the AFV towing the stuck MKIIC from tail wheel with personnel trying to dig arroung the main wheels and putting planks in the mud to create a safe route, some pushing from leading edge of wings and so on......zgur li se tinqala polemika.

First chance we get in 2010 we go to aviation museum for some sound advice re towing.

My target date for completion of this dio is Catania 2010 where SSM will get Best of Show

Colour scheme!!!!!!!!!!I will worry about that when its time for spraying but definitly it is going to be a MKIIC with tropical filter and scheme, but in the meantime continue this interesting debate/interretation of the colour/bw photos.

Sound decision Joe, with all the detailing and expeditions we rather set up a dead line ... I agree deadline for Catania, I was thinking for our expo but too close and would rather not show it off and unveil it later. I propose as well that it's home shall be at the Aviation Museum with the other ...

Regarding towing I agree definitly it is a risky solution, so I had in mind a group of Maltese struggling with a rope, tag of war with the aircraft+mud, maybe tied up from teh cowling ... and some brave sole is trying to persuade them to use the bren/Matilda instead. I guess Bren might be a wiser solution as it is smaller but then we have to consider the size as from the impression I get Hurricanes are a beast in 1/32 so might opt for a Matilda, apart it is a WW2 icon with Malta!

So lets get ready and discuss tomorrow ... by chance does it have undercarriage or at least the dimensions?

Yes it has the undercarriage less the wheels, but no prob that will be fixed so we will get the proper aircraft to set the dio. Yes its home will be at the Aviation Museum after being exhibited at our Expo 2011, hopefully.
