I like this new release, I have a couple of questions....

    A. is the ventail on the right side, or didn’t it matter
    B. would the sword strap be over the other side as well, or would they have been both handed.....

Just that if the picture is the wrong way round then this would explain the questions..... but if it is OK.

They have another two releases, on their website......

Dave until our Medieval Mentor Ivan chimes in, AFAIK the sword belt was never worn over the shoulder except in Hollywood movies but as I told you, I stand up for CORRECTION as always Sad

Re ventail which fastens on the right side, I'm in total darkness on this one Sad as we've always seen them depicted fastening on the left side of the face. Now that would be answered if the picture is the other way round as you remarked Laughing

    Hi Dave

Probably he was a left hander ; )

This gonna make me go deep into my resources, vantails normally are tied on the other side as you hinted, and that belt would much better be for a shield instead of swords, I really get annoyed with these medeivals having a sword strapped to the back, I handle those type of swords myself and really can't see me grapping out of the pocket from the back!

One positive thing, finally we are having a decent bearded subject ...

JMD for me are more spot on their WW1 and fantasy subjects, and love their new WW1 figure ...

So as you guessed guys till date [but I might be corrected] I have not seen any avantails tied on the left. Now to add more that metal coif is a late type and typical of the great helm era, infact that is why it has a padded arming cap underneat, hence the topped shape. Unfortunetly in my referances late type coifs had a broad facial opening that was tightened across the chin by draw string.

    Hi Guys

Cheers for the reply’s, although it has some problems, I really am not too put off by it, I think its a great little piece, maybe better with the top of a shield behind him would give a better look.....

    Cheers guys.

I agree Dave it is a good piece and with some work can be much accurate. I agree a shield on the back would make it more appropriate. I like the face, the guys of JMD are manging some very good facial character, pity they got a little artistic but on in all something that can be solved with some little work. I have to add very good box art by Daniele Ipperti, I like how he has done the skin tones and the leather.

Look forward for you version, you are getting involved in lots of busts lately Dave!

Ivan - Busts, yes its the challenge of getting the reality right, how far can they be pushed to make them look so real, I want get that close.......

A harder challenge than a smaller scale figure........
