    Hi all,
This is my first post so here goes.I started this build just a couple of weeks before PCM announced their new 1/32 Fw 190-A-1/2/3 but that's fine by me.I've wanted a 1/32 190 A-3 for quite a while so I just went and started one...the first item on order was to cut the extension from the nose section of the fuselage making it shorter as per the A-3/4.Further,hatches had to be filled and new ones scribed...so here's a few pics of the progress.Slow as always thanks to work but these things happen...1/32 Hasegawa 190 A-5 converted to an A-3... This is my paint booth/work area...the exhaust helps extract fumes from glue as well as paint fumes...
    1/32 Hasegawa 190 A-5 converted to an A-3... IMG_0334

The cut was made directly along a panel line so that made things easy from the start...

This is the kit tail wheel...I cut the existing wheel away from the strut and added a resin replacement...

The cooling gills were cut out and plastic strips cut as flaps...

The kit cockpit side consoles were a bit narrow so plastic strip was added to get them to the fuselage side walls. The kit seat was used and sanded down until thin enough to look the part.I sratch built the left side console, rear armor, map case and a few other items...

I buttoned up the fuselage but I can still pop the cockpit out seeing as I want to complete the cockpit coaming and top deck by the gun sight. With the fuselage together I started on the 190 A-3 rudder tip...

magnificent work Dave. I finally manged to get to see the pics. Will you believe this. Was trying to see them this morning at about 6 am before work and we had a power outage. It has been a hassle to manage to see your pics.
That is some really lovely work you are doing there. The detail is brilliant and really neat. Looking forward to the rest of the build. i love the gills, they are beautiful. Also the hollowed out aerial attachment point on the tail. Lovely work.

Well I've been lucky enough to get some more work done on the A-3 conversion. The belts are Radu Brinzan's design, the instrument panel is from the Montex A-3/4 conversion. The belts themselves were weathered with pigments.I hope you like the work so far...cheers

The pics aren't the best but they show enough of the detail. The left side console was scratch built but the right side was left pretty much stock. It's the first time I've used Radu's belts and I have to say I'm impressed ...

Good job you made with that detail in the cockpit , it looks real ..welldone with your work , especially that is a german machine, btw.. JG2 are very colourful....and if I'm not mistaken JG2 were based in 1942 not 41..

I had 1/48 drawings enlarged to 1/32,photo copied the control surfaces then did my best to cut the panels out along the lines. Then place them on the control surface, hit them with a few coats of Mr.Surfaces 1000,pull the tape panels off,hit it a few more times to blend everything in then let dry a day or so.Once dry I get it a light wet sanding with 600 grit...and that toned things down more than what the pictures show...

Hi my friend, long time no hear, good to see something new from your end. That is a brilliant piece of work you did with those control surfaces. I like doing that with the wing root fairings, it works so well and you get a nice finish. Well done, hope all is ok at your end.

Hi Brian and thanks for the kind words.Summer is behind us here,it's getting colder (thank god,it's another hockey season) so time to get back to the bench. This method worked great and I'll use it again. Now I'm just re-working the wheel bay and then the wings will be put together.Biggest problem will be the fit of the engine and cowling area to the shortened fuselage.I'm sure with a little effort it will all go together in the end.Everything is good on this end...I hope you and your family are well...cheers
