Drying aircraft

Any tips on speed drying aircraft? Tired a low temp oven a couple of times but the inevitable happened ............droopy wing syndrome!

Getting bored waiting for varnish and oil paint to dry!!!

I've started a 'weekend 'Pfalz whilst waiting for the oil to dry on the 'weekend' Albatros..pretty much caught that one up

Welcome to the rock mate ... Nice to see you here!

So I am seeing these biplanes got you more hooked then painting WW1figures ... Try an acrylic base, it helps more to speed up oil to dry ... As for varnish go for acrylic ones will be ready in minutes, I prefer Tamiya by airbrush ... Or else paint everything in acrylics

Ps ... Show up what you have done till date I have not seen a 1/72 wood effect so fine till date ... Shows you a great painter

Hi Ivan,
I didn't take any SBS shots. I'd undercoated in the pale yellow acrylic, preshaded with black on the panel lines. A couple of panels were painted pale flesh for interest. Using a thin brown acrylic mix I painted a grain effect on a couple of panels using a hatching motion. When dry pulled a thin mix of Mars Brown oil mixed with poppy oil along the panel grain. As it dried I used a colour shaper to just pick at the paint and let lighter areas come through..........into the oven and melted it dry. Voila!!!!

Oh no you forgot it is plastic! I saw your progress on FB pity it was lost ... I would leave it to airdry, not sure if turpentine might dry oils faster then poppy oil ... What sometimes worked for me I add tamiya matt varnish with the oil mix ... Will speed a bit but obviously feathering and blending has to be done there and then ... Another product I see but never used are water based oil paint ... Might work maybe?
