I have been working on a XB-35 for a liitle while before I moved. This is my latest on it...

I worked on my XB-35 some more one this weekend. Got the body... err wing... err... whole thing glued together. There is a lot of putting to do, but that was expected after playing with dry fits.

First I weighted the nose down...

    My production line 100_4288

then glued the 2 halves together...

    My production line 100_4290

Next I had to add plastic pieces to better align the wing parts (one of the areas I need ther would be fit problems)

    My production line 100_4293

Then when they dried glued the rest of the plane together...

    My production line 100_4295

Now I have puttied the major seams and am waiting for the putty to dry before I start sanding back into shape. Going to need a very good sanding job as this model has a alum finish and that color shows every flaw quite well

I also started a new model the AR-234B night fighter version

Have to give a "thumbs up" for the protection given the radar antenna in the kit

    My production line 100_4291

and I started painting all the cockpit parts

I have gotten the Xb-35 glued together. Now I am puttying and sanding the seams. I knew this was going to be needed when dry fitting the pieces.

I am impressed and surprised how complicated this cockpit is on the AR-234.

There are 16 pieces in this picture alone and I still have 5 more pieces to attach! and that does not include the include the 9 pieces in the glass nose cone! (haven't started that part yet)

I got some more done on the AR-234, finally got the cockpit together. Read online that the cockpit to body connection is squirrely, they are not wrong. I know that the top two pieces don't match up in the pictures but that will work out when I attach the cockpit.

There also was a mold seam running down the middle of the cockpit nose cone. To fix that, I first scrapped it with an x-acto blade then sanded smooth and finally coated with a coat of future. Turned out better than I thought. The first picture shows the seam on the nose cone I am using. (this kit does three different versions of the aircraft and I practiced on a second nose cone first before tackling the correct nose cone (next 3 picts)

I did build this particular version of the arado, it rests with the other hangar queens unfinished. I did not find any particular problems with the cockpit sub-assemblies, although it needed some filler to blend everything in but nothing spectacular. Just a little suggestion, check the seat alignment as it out of alignment in the pictures otherwise nice picking of details. Onething, not sure if it is something wrong with the kit, but the engine to wing joint looks odd on the wing leading edge, just check your references before joing them.

The seat wasn't glued in and I have pushed it back into the proper position. I haven't attached the engines yet but there will be a little work at the wing roots and fuselage connection needed. Over all it is going together quite well.

Great work, now I know why you are Wedfactory, as kits are produced as if in a production line Smile but still you manage to produce good quality models. Good work.

Wow that is a lot of builds going on at one time. They all look really good, what a production line, no wonder your nickname is wedfactory. Keep it up and keep those pics coming. The Ar234 pit looks great.

I ran into a problem with my XB-35. When sanding the putty it crumbled at points leaving pits all over it...

    My production line 100_4394

I heard one person using liquid glue to smooth out his putty, so I whipped out the liquid glue and spread it on the putty and ran my finger down it. I will let it dry for 24 hours and do a light sanding again. Looks like it should work nicely...

I was looking over the F-15 tonight and noticed a seam running down the middle of the canopy Exclamation

    My production line 100_4397

    My production line 100_4398

So here is how I fixed it....

First here are the tools I used, #11 x-acto knife, tri-grit sanding stick and future floor polish (now pledge floor wax)

    My production line 100_4400

First I started by scraping down the seam with the #11 blade edge. You can tell which side is higher by the straight line that appears (look at the bottom edge of the canopy in the picture below)

    My production line 100_4401

Once you finish this step it will look like this...

    My production line 100_4403

I then sand it down with the rough grit on the tri grit sanding stick and it looks like this when done...

    My production line 100_4404

Next I use the middle grit to start the buffing out of the scratches...

    My production line 100_4406

then I use the buffing side of the sanding stick to get to this stage...

    My production line 100_4407

When all that is done to my satisfaction I coat it in future...

    My production line 100_4409

and unless you know exactly were to look the seam is gone...

I have always just sprayed it straight, no thinning. I then use ammonia to clean out the nozzle of the airbrush.

I clean it with water then badger cleaner. seems to work Neutral

Spraying, i find it tough because its not like spraying paint! I spray at 10psi (because higher and the Klear will run) and it comes all droplets. Almost like im spraying water! When it dries it leaves droplet stains! So i spray it heavy and slow at almost full trigger to prevent droplets. But that leaves the risk of the layer running or forming uneven puddles :/

Where did you get ammonia from?

I got the ammonia from Walmart here in the states. You could look thru the cleaning section of your local stores.
