Don't make such a fuss William
I saw the Mustang and the so called "disaster" yesterday before Club, and everything can be adjusted/corrected with a litle bit of patience
The blue bordering of the the insigna peeled off in a couple of places, so it is not so difficult to retouch in straight strokes of the brush

Re: P-51B Mustang
Can't they be replaced? If you applied the decals over gloss varnish you can very probably remove them and use another set of markings. You can also sand them slowly away, you have the gloss to protect the paintwork.

Yes you're right but the decals probably will take too long to arrive and anyway I'll try with the old reliable paint and paintbrush

Re: P-51B Mustang
If it is just the national markings you need. i am sure someone at the club will give you a set and you don;t need to send for them. I am afraid i don;t have any since i don;t have any 1/48th scale kits.

Re: P-51B Mustang
Will that is my favourite mustang you modeled there. Don Gentile's 'Shangri La' there are lots of colour pics of that machine to help you out with the final touches and details. Well done for an excellent choice. That is probably the most famous of all mustangs. Love your work. Don't let anyone influence you and build what you like to build. I hope you keep building aircraft but if you like figures, then be it. The best thing to do is go halfway and add personnel to your plane bases and you will be having the best of both worlds and building more attractive models. And sometimes, add a piece of equipment or a vehicle too and that is really going all the way. Up to you but seeing your progress, you are well up to it and can build any model you wish.
