The creature from the Black Lagoon
Hi guys this is a figure which is not mine and comes from an old movie. the creature is a plastic model but the arms have been replaced by resin ones which will accommodate the girl he is holding. The girl is resin. She was very crude and required heavy clean up. She is all primed and sanded smooth as is the creature now. I just need to sand a couple of his nails which were broken in transit. There is going to be a lot of airbrush work here. Looking forward to something different.
Hope you like it.

Should be mostly airbrush Ivan, minor other detail work with the brush. I have super cleaned my IWATA for this job, including a double time in the ultrasonic cleaner, viva l-LIDL.

Nice one Brian,
A lot different than the ME110's, but very original. By the look of it, you shall produce a very nice vignette.
Prosit Habib.

Thanks Paul, the figures are not mine. Not my cup of tea, just finishing them for a friend. there is another similar project on the way. I need to do these to take a break from the aircraft, those two 110's sucked out all the juice from me. i just need something different.

The creature from the Black Lagoon
Hello Brian,
I can fully understand, the work involved on the ME110's. As always it's not the model, but the research and the scratch built items you have to do, that consumes most of the time. Not to mention also the work that has to be carried out on the model itself.
My project is not only time consuming, but is also draining down my health. I wake up early in the morning every day to do a good hour of of scale modelling + another hour or two in the evening. To that add also the numerous hours during the weekend and public holidays.
But anyhow, this is our world of modelling.
Kepp it up Brian - very good work, even if it's not your piece of read and butter.

Re: The creature from the Black Lagoon
An interesting challenge would be to make it sepia, was not this originally a BW movie?

Re: The creature from the Black Lagoon
The creature is done. Sequence was first airbrush with different shades of green. This was followed by a black acrylic thinned wash, then a lot of work with oils. Finally an overall spray with a very dilute dark blue/green mixed with gloss varnish. Hope you like it. Especially you Brad!!
The girl is next but this is an entirely different approach. We shall see!!

Re: The creature from the Black Lagoon
Thanks Paul, its a nice change and a bit of total fun. No scheme to stick to and accuracy of shades, just pure painting fun. I should do this more often.

Don't worry Matco, they are not mine, i will soon be building more Luftwaffe planes. But doing these before will make me want to build more planes, because although this is fun, i miss planes. FW190D9 next.
